Monthly Payment Authorization Forms are due Tuesday, September 8, 2015.

All parents must fill out Monthly Payment Authorization form every school year to authorize MCC Academy to receive monthly tuition payment directly from your bank account each month. We are requiring all parents to make this electronic payment to more efficiently facilitate the tuition payment accounting process.

Monthly tuition is due each month on the 10th or a $25 late fee will accrue for each month tuition is late.

Tardy Policy

Student attendance is required at morning assembly at both campuses. If your child arrives after 8:25am they will be marked tardy.

A Note from the School Council

Assalamualaikum,

Welcome to another amazing school year at MCC Academy. We are thankful to Allah swt to have the privilege to educate your children. We pray Allah swt guides our teachers, staff and ourselves to continue to do the very best for each and every one of our students.

We would like to share with you a few updates to our curriculum this year:
  • We launched the Houghton Mifflin Journeys Reading curriculum last year in grades Kg-2nd and this year we added 3rd-5th grades. This program will align our Reading program with Common Core standards and provides teachers with excellent online resources.
  • For our Middle School Arabic program, we have changed the focus of the curriculum from learning Arabic as a language to studying Quranic Arabic to improve the understanding of our Holy Book. Therefore, Quran and Arabic courses are now one combined class. We are also rolling this out in our preschool and PreK classrooms.
We pray for our students to enjoy and benefit from the efforts put forth for them on behalf of their teachers and our staff, inshAllah. MCC Academy exists because of the commitment from our parents to educate their children in an environment that both fosters a love of Islam and is committed to academic excellence. Your support and continued investment in MCCA is vital to the success of our school. Please know your compliments and concerns are always eager to be heard.

MCCA Welcomes New Teachers, TAs and Staff

Just like any organization, MCCA is always growing and transforming. We are blessed to have an abundance of individuals seeking to work at MCCA each year. Thanks to our expanding enrollment, we are pleased to welcome the following individuals to our MCCA family:

Rania Abdulbari - Quran Teacher and TA
My name is Rania Adbulbari, also known as Ms. Rania. This is my first year at MCC Academy as a Quran teacher for 1st and 2nd grade, and a teacher assistant for the part-time early childhood program.  I have taught Quran and Qaeda Nooraniya at Al-Iman Sunday School for three years, and volunteered at MCC Academy for one year as an aid for Quran and Arabic classes. After being active in the school as a PSG member for over 5 years, I am humbled to take a new role in teaching the noble Quran and blessed to get the opportunity to be part of the new early childhood dual-language program.

Lena Adhami - 1B Lead Teacher
It is such a blessing to be an alumni and come back many years later to become a teacher. Being a teaching is dear to me because having the ability to help children achieve their best is what brings enjoyment to my life. First grade is such a precious grade since these children's minds are like sponges and they are so eager to start learning how to read. Inshallah, this year will be lots of fun and we will be encouraging learning activities that the children will hopefully remember for the rest of their lives.

Fatima Ahmad - Teacher Assistant
I received my bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education with a minor in Psychology. Afterwards, in pursuing my master's degree in Elementary Education,  I fell in love with my career choice . Along with my studies, I also have ample amount of experience working and teaching students of all different grade levels and age groups.  I have volunteered and did a majority of my coursework in all different schools including private and Chicago public schools.  M y mentor once told me, "The young minds are like blank slates where as we being educators can shape their minds and help build their foundations for their future success." These words have stuck with me and have helped me analyze how important it is for teachers to help and be there for our students learning.  I am super excited and very blessed to be part of MCC staff  because  we all work here as one team.  I am always very eager for new challenges, learning new concepts and most importantly ready to be an amazing teacher for our students.

Maheen Ayub - Reading Specialist
My name is Maheen Ayub and I will be working as the Reading Specialist for the elementary grades.  I will be a literacy resource for children, parents, and teachers.  I am excited to work with our MCCA community to instill a love of reading and writing in our children. MCCA Transforms into a More Beautiful and Productive Space

Parent Volunteer Nazneen Ayoob has worked closely with Building Manager Ali Tai and MCC Building Committee Chairperson Mazhar Khan to lead and plan for an abundance of improvements at both campuses. Please see below for a list of items that have been completed and a preview of good things yet to come:

Skokie Campus
  • 70% of Skokie campus got a new skim-coat of concrete sub-floor to make certain it is certified and approved for 30 years. The benefit of this process is to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff from old chemicals and bacteria leaching into the air from materials used from years past. In the library, we replaced the floor with new, hypo-allergenic carpet with a special non-absorbent coating formulated for commercial use to help alleviate the spread of germs and bacteria.
  • The main entrance of the school has dark-gray, vinyl plank flooring which extends into the main office area. This is great for traction and slip-resistance during wet, rainy and snowy periods.
  • The rest of the school received linoleum tile flooring. This floor is infused with cork which reduces 60% impact on joints such as ankles, knees and lower back, excellent for our teachers who stand most of the day. This is also hypo-allergenic with a zero absorption rate, makes for easy clean-up and no bacteria soaks in.
  • Air quality was tested in the school after the floors were replaced. The result was a 90-percent improvement rate.
  • The Parent Support Group donated the beautiful light fixtures that now adorn the Skokie Campus lobby.
  • We re-configured the library which is now ergonomically safe for the students and teachers walking through. The library will now have three designated areas: book area, teaching area and a demonstration area. We expect this process to be complete by early next week. Our thanks to the many parent and community volunteers who have spent countless hours helping with this process.
  • The Skokie campus playground was outfitted with rubber mulch, this product is incredibly great for keeping children safe from falls and injuries from any harsh impacts. The mulch slows children's speed down considerably while running and is environmentally safe. This will be complete within the next week.
Upcoming Projects
Wall of Fame: We will be installing a Wall of Fame at each campus later this year. These special walls will be designated for showcasing our student and alumni successes. The walls will be outfitted appropriately to best highlight awards, articles, historical photos, etc...

Morton Grove Campus Exterior will be updated to match the masjid facade. Window blinds will be removed and replaced with window tints to match the masjid. Painting and landscaping will tie the school building with the masjid.

Please continue to look forward to additional improvements at both campuses within the classrooms and common areas year after year, for many years to come, inshAllah. Thank you for your support and patience throughout the process of making our school a more safe and productive environment for our children and staff.

MCCA Joins North Shore's Family Action Network (FAN)

Alongside other prominent schools on the North Shore including New Trier, Glenbrook North and countless others, MCC Academy is the first Islamic School to join the Family Action Network, a consortium of school and organizations united to connect parents, educators and professionals through collaborative programming that educates, inspires and positively impacts the broader community. By collaborating and sharing resources, FAN's programs and outreach bring speakers and programs to the community that might otherwise not be available. Part of FAN's strength has been the continuity of its board and volunteers who developed particular expertise over years of valued service to the community.

MCCA parents should plan to attend FAN seminars as a means of gaining valuable insights into a range of topics relating to parenting, education, health and much more. Visit the FAN website for a list of upcoming events and seminars and to join their email listserv. All events are free and open to the public.
