BUSINESS SPONSOR
SPOTLIGHT

Are you interested in having your locally owned business highlighted in our "Business Sponsor Spotlight?"

In each newsletter, we highlight one of our GVCO banner sponsors.  O ur banner advertising campaign is an opportunity for local businesses to have their company name and logo prominently displayed on a banner at the Great Valley Community Organization Community Center on Bacton Hill Road. GVCO is an 100% volunteer organization that hosts over 1,200 children and their families for basketball, volleyball, cheerleading, football, clinics, and summer camps. The Great Valley Community Organization is a 501(c)(3) so all donations are tax deductible. The banner rental cost is (3'x5' in size) $250 per year (for 3 years) if you supply the banner or $300 per year if GVBL creates and purchases the banner. It is a tremendous opportunity for your business to gain exposure within the community and assist an all volunteer organization that serves the area.

NEWS

The GVCO Board of Directors continues to closely monitor all of our programs and has been very pleased with the success of the various activities.  As we approach the end of the GVCO fiscal year on September 30th, the benefits of quarterly board reviews of program revenue and expenses are clear.  GVCO is once again expecting to have a solid financial year, even with the addition of new programming.  Thanks to all of the volunteers who devote countless hours to ensure we can offer the best possible programs to the Great Valley community.

DIRECTOR'S MESSAGE

The Importance of Community Partnerships

The Great Valley Community Organization (GVCO) is constantly seeking out partnerships in the community to create synergies, benefiting both the cooperating groups and the residents in the area.  GVCO is pleased to highlight two of these community partnerships in this issue.

Steps4Hope was established in 2014 in loving memory of Great Valley High School graduate Jonathan Moules.  The non-profit organization has been tremendously effective in providing community access to programs educating our students, families, and community in an effort to prevent and understand substance misuse and the disease of addiction.  In the first few years Steps4Hope has raised over $100,000, used to support community access to relevant educational programs, prevention strategies, and resources.  The Third Annual Steps4Hope 5K Run/Walk will be held on Sunday October 16th at Ridley Creek State Park.  Part of the proceeds will go support GVCO.  Join us on October 16th to support a great cause.

Charlestown Day 2016 will be held on Saturday October 29th from 10:00am to 2:00pm at the newly renovated Charlestown Park.  The Charlestown Township Parks and Recreation invite the community to attend the grand opening of the Charlestown Park with vendors, food trucks, live music, and kids activities.  There are still opportunities for sponsors and vendors to participate, and additional volunteers are welcome.  Proceeds from the event will benefit GVCO.  We look forward to seeing you on October 29th.

GREAT VALLEY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Our 2016 season is off to a great start!

The 2016 Great Valley Junior Patriots are off to a great start! We are in our seventh year of offering youth football and cheer programs and the kids are loving it.  This year we are fielding six tackle football teams and three sideline cheer teams as part of the Bert Bell Football League and have over 60 children participating in our in-house flag football and cheer program.  We are lucky enough to have the GVHS field as our home location and it always brings a smile to see our younger players taking the field for the first time in full equipment! The children will play four home games during their eight week season and we invite everyone to come out and cheer them on! Click here for our schedule.

GVFL parents and volunteers will be hosting a fun evening of BBQ, Beer and Bingo on Saturday September 24th. Please consider coming out in support of our programs.

GREAT VALLEY VOLLEYBALL LEAGUE

GVVL Camp 2016
Continued success for the Great Valley Volleyball League program

Once again our summer volleyball camps were a huge success, with over 100 players working with Coaches Kassie Bellaver, Samuel Ellis, and Seely Byer.  The Great Valley Volleyball League (GVVL) is looking to expand youth volleyball programs in the community, but this can only happen if there are volunteers willing to help with coaching/instruction and program administration.  If you are interested in helping grow local youth volleyball opportunities please e-mail GVVL.

The GVVL program has clearly made a significant positive impact on the Great Valley School Direct Girls Volleyball Program.  Come out and support the GVHS Girls Volleyball Team this season!
