in unexpected ways. With
X Games legend Andy Macdonald leading a group of celebrated skateboarders
and Jason Moran and

ISSUE NO. 9/SEPTEMBER 2016
Dear
September means back to school, fall sports, changing seasons, and often a renewed sense of direction and dedication. At Paragon Sight and Sound, it also means it's time for our Fall Events! This year we are shaking it up, and adding a 4K Video and Home Automation event. If you want to learn more about contemporary home theaters, home automation, and lighting control, you won't want to miss our October 6th event. See our Events Schedule section for more details.

Our featured system this month includes the new Wilson Yvette Loudspeakers, Audio Research GSPre, GS150, and the dCS Rossini Player & UClock. Our demo pair of Yvette speakers have caused quite a stir - while it is not a large speaker, it has delighted us with a sound that is spacious, lush, and dynamic. Its single-piece body and slight footprint ( a mere 13"L x 20"D) ensures that it will fit in practically every listening room. Aside from stature, the Yvette also benefits from the latest technology developed for the XLF, Alexx, and Alexia, most notably in the area of time-domain performance, and low resonance cabinet design. For amplification, we've chosen the new Audio Research GSPre Preamplifier and GS150 Power Amplifier. Rounding out the system is the dCS Rossini Player + UClock with the elegant new app that lets you easily manage digital music playback. The ARC/dCS combination is a natural complement to the musically accurate Yvette. Make time today to visit us and listen to some of our high-resolution digital recordings through this special system.

Coming soon: Most fans of Bowers & Wilkins loudspeakers are already familiar with the venerable 800 series. The 800 series was first introduced in 1979 and it has been one of the most popular high-performance loudspeakers in recent history. When it came time to update the line, B&W engineers made over 835 changes to the speakers, in "their most ambitious design and research project ever undertaken."  Visit Paragon later this month for an in-depth presentation of the brand new B&W 800 D3 Speakers.

Best Regards,
Paragon Sight & Sound Team

Featured Audio System

Wilson Audio  Yvette Loudspeaker
Audio Research  GSPre
&
GS150 Amplifier
dCS Rossini Player + UClock

All of the products in our featured system were released within the last twelve months, and each product continues to exceed the high-performance legacy of these fine manufacturers.  The new Wilson Audio Yvette is a direct result of the research and development of the Sasha 2, Alexia, Alexx, and David Wilson's ongoing WAMM project.  Reminiscent of the earlier Sophia, the Yvette is quite possibly "the most advanced and musically refined single-enclosure in Wilson's history."

Powering the Yvette is the new ARC GS150 Tube Power Amplifier, connected to the  GSPre Preamplifier. This ARC tube pre/amp combination delivers all the resolution and detail we expect when listening to ARC Reference gear. Both the GSPre and GS150 feature the new casework and design that hints at retro, but "under-the-hood" lies a circuit design that's strikingly modern. And it's this internal circuitry of the GSPre that's is critical when adding the dCS Rossini Player as the final piece of this special package.

The dCS Rossini Player + DAC features their well-known "Ring DAC" that transforms your digital data into a musical experience "of breathtaking clarity and emotional intensity."  With a direct network cable, the new Rossini app enables streaming from a NAS drive, or the use of content from online providers like Tidal, and Spotify. System performance is also improved with the addition of the Rossini Master Clock, which optimizes the audio signal from all digital sources and reduces the digital jitter present in all digital systems.

Come in and hear your favorite online music like you've never heard it before.

  Wilson Audio Yvette Loudspeaker
Wilson is very excited to introduce its fifth all-new loudspeaker: The Yvette.

With the launch of this new loudspeaker, many people are interested in how the Yvette compares to Wilson's past models. This is understandable. Dave Wilson's WATT/Puppy literally transformed the high-end loudspeaker market in the late eighties, and went on to be the best selling loudspeaker in the over-$10K category. The Yvette may also invite comparison to Wilson's cult favorite, the Sophia. Again, this makes sense. For thousands and thousands of music lovers and audiophiles, Sophia was their first experience of Wilson Audio. Sophia was treasured for her unique combination of musicality and accessibility with other traditional Wilson virtues, such as dynamic resolution and an impeccable sound-stage. She was, above all else, easy-going and eminently lovable.

The new Yvette draws from this rich tradition.

Bowers & Wilkins 800 D3 Loudspeakers
When John Bowers founded his company in 1966, he dreamed of making the perfect loudspeaker. The company has been pursuing his vision ever since. In 1979 the original 801 was at the forefront of modern high-end loudspeaker design, using unique materials, with drive units isolated in separate chambers. The next 30 years saw significant developments for B&W, and included many new products at very different prices. The latest revision of the 800 series, the D3, was timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of B&W. The entire line was re-engineered. In fact, the new 802 D3 retained only 8 parts from the previous generation. The 800 D3 underwent a similar reinvention. Using the latest design tools and technology, B&W engineers created a new cabinet geometry, designed a turbine head tweeter module, and modified the woofers. Clearly,  B&W pushed the boundaries of loudspeaker design to the edge.

Paragon Sight & Sound will receive our demo pair of 800 D3s later this month. Make sure you find time to stop in and listen to the reinvention of one of the most popular high end loudspeakers of all time.
