Brandon Chamber Free Summer
Concert Series
"Music at the Riverbend"

A super summer of music and fun! Perfect weather graced us every Wednesday.

2017 Summer Concert Series Re-Cap
Another spectacular season is complete!  Brandon's 2017 "Music at the Riverbend" Free Summer Concert Series was a rousing success.  For the second year in a row, we had perfect weather for all nine concerts - 18 Wednesday night band concerts in a row without need for a rain location.  Some weeks it seemed like Wednesday night was the only night of the week it did not rain!

Our "Segment Six" location on the great green lawn behind the Brandon Inn proved popular with concertgoers, musicians, and the rollicking crowds of children enjoying unstructured safe playtime together behind the band.  A big Brandon thank-you to Sarah and Louis Pattis for sharing their beautiful space with us (and standing by with indoor space in case of rain).

Shawn Keith and his team at Celebration Rentals came through in a big way, setting up and taking down a new stage each week, tailored to the needs of the band.  Thank you, Celebration Rentals!

We were joined by the Lions Club who cheerfully popped the free popcorn, and by St Mary's Church folks with their fundraiser table.  If your group would like to participate in our weekly all-town get-together next summer, give the concert committee a shout!

The concert committee will be placing a formal thank-you to all our generous sponsors in The Reporter but does want to highlight our major donors for this season:  Brandon Area Chamber of Commerce ~ Nifty Thrifty ~ Casella ~ Lake Sunapee Bank ~ Omya ~ Olya & Seth Hopkins ~ New England Woodcraft ~ Olivia's Croutons ~ Naylor & Breen Builders ~ Foley Brothers Brewing ~ National Bank of Middlebury ~ Brandon Inn (venue) ~ Celebration Rentals (stage) ~ Courtney Satz (graphic design).  We couldn't have done it without you ... and more than fifty other community-minded individuals and businesses who stepped up to the plate and helped us build community together through music.  You are all appreciated!

We're already thinking about 2018.  Make it a date:  Every Wednesday in July and August, 7PM.

Sincerely, your summer concert series committee:
Stacey Doucette, Seth Hopkins, Bill Moore, Alyssa Zollman

Adam Karch at Brandon Music
September 30 at 7:30pm

Brandon Music welcomes the accomplished guitarist, Adam Karch, on September 30 at 7:30pm. Although Karch is from Montreal, his music embodies the spirit of Americana like a scenic ride across the country. He plays a hybrid acoustic blues that consists of precise fingerpicking that recalls players such as Chet Atkins and Kelly Joe Phelps, along with an innovative percussive technique that is thoroughly modern, while somehow primal and anchored in tradition.

Karch has a raw talent that was evident from the first time he picked up the guitar at an early age. By age 14, he was fronting bands, headlining clubs, and dazzling audiences with both his spirited guitar playing and soulful singing.
Concert tickets are $20.  A pre-concert dinner is available for $25.  Reservations are required for dinner and recommended for the show.Venue is BYOB. Call (802) 247-4295 or e-mail info@brandon-music.net for reservations or for more information. Brandon Music is located at 62 Country Club Rd. Brandon, VT 05733 www.brandon-music.net

Brandon Free Public Library Used Book Sale
Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m  on Friday and Saturday from now until mid-October

The Friends of the Brandon Free Public Library have opened their used book sale in the basement of the Library. The sale will be open every week on Wednesday evening from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m  on Friday and Saturday from now until mid-October. This is probably the best organized and longest running used book sale in Vermont.

This year we received many new (to us) books from the March Gala that the local book clubs put on to benefit the Library elevator project. As a result, a good 'spring cleaning' has taken place, some older materials have been culled and there are many newer and different books on our shelves.

Books are arranged by type and subject. There is both hard-cover and paperback fiction, non-fiction of every description, and books for children, toddlers, and young adults. There are special sections devoted to gardening, cooking, how-to and do-it-yourself projects. All of the income from this sale is given by the Friends for the  purchase of books and other materials and to help underwrite special projects for the Library like the Summer Children's Program in July. For this season only; all VHS and Cassette tapes are free. Come and choose what you would like.

We can also use a few more good volunteers to help staff the sale. You may volunteer for as many or as few days as you'd like or you can sign up as a substitute. Training will be provided. Volunteer and find out what the 'oldest, continuing, permanent, used book sale in Vermont' is all about. Call the Library at 247-8230 for more information or to volunteer. Bring a friend if you'd like to work with a 'buddy'.

Neshobe Golf Club
The course is in great shape!!

Neshobe Golf Club is now open for the season! We are fortunate in that Mother Nature has shone upon us once again and kept the harshness of New England winters from wreaking any havoc to our greens and fairways. All greens are the real deal-no temporaries or winter burn. The fairways are fast approaching their high-season lush green color and fluff, tempting anyone with a touch of golf fever to dust off the clubs and get on over for a round or two (more?). If you need something, remember that we have a fully-stocked ProShop for any gear you may need and a PGA professional who can help you tweak that swing for better play. In addition to the course, Neshobe's own Long Iron Restaurant & Pub is continuing its Friday Night sit-down dining affair offering a varying menu to the delight of appetites both big and small. Check our Facebook page on Wednesday afternoons to see the Friday menu or subscribe to our email notifications on our homepage, neshobe.com. All are welcome! We hope to see you soon.

Every now and then I think it's important to
remind those of us who have been taking Brandon Green for years, and new businesses that have joined the Chamber, about the process for handling the certificates.
