Take advantage of the cooler days by hiking on a nearby trail,
spinning in the Tour de Valley, or flying a kite at Coyner Springs Park.

Tour de Valley

Ridgeview Park
The Tour de Valley takes you on a scenic tour of the Shenandoah Valley and includes a tech tee, stocked aid stations, and SAG vehicle support on the course.  Choose from two distances, the 100 mile Century or the 62 mile Metric Century.  Stay for the after party at the War Memorial Pool at Ridgeview Park where participants can take a swim and enjoy, pizza, subs, and beverages!
Virginia Street Arts Festival

The annual street art and music festival is moving! This year it will be hosted by E-N Computers and held at Basic City Beer Co. in Waynesboro!

Nils Westergard will be back to paint a wall, and muralists Carl Medley and Chicho Lorenzo will be joining him to paint two other murals.  In addition, the cubes will be returning for other street artists to paint.  
Come and have at it!

Live music all day, Enchanted Flow Artists will be performing, Hops Kitchen & El Habanero will be serving food all day and Blue Ridge Bucha will have kombucha in a variety of flavors.  Basic City Beer Co. will also be showcasing several Richmond breweries including Triple Crossing.  
Waynesboro Fire Department Auction

Constitution Park Parking Lot 
Support of the Waynesboro Fire Department by participating in the annual auction that helps purchase needed equipment for the facility. Donations are welcome any time before September 9. On the day of the event, tickets will be issued beginning at 8:00 AM, and the auction will start between 8:30-9:00 AM. Used items will be auctioned off during the morning, then the new items will be auctioned beginning around 12 noon. Once completed, auctioning will continue with the remaining used items.

Open House at the Hawk Watch

Afton Mountain, grounds of the Inn at Afton 
Each fall over 20,000 raptors migrate through Rockfish Gap, and we count them all! Come join us as we witness this great migration and enjoy a fun day of family events:
*Watch a live raptor show by the Wildlife Center of Virginia 
*Meet our counters and learn how/why we conduct a hawk watch
*Try out a variety of binoculars and spotting scopes 
*Participate in a raptor identification workshop
*Examine mounted raptor specimens up close
*See exhibits of local bird clubs and environmental groups, as well as a variety of educational displays and presentations
*Enjoy refreshments and nature activities for the kids 

Bring a lawn chair, hat, sunscreen and binoculars. Pets are discouraged because of live raptors on site. Rain date: Sunday, Sep 10.

Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch is located on Afton Mountain on the grounds of the Inn at Afton just off exit 99 (where I-64 intersects with Rt 250, Skyline Drive, and the Blue Ridge Parkway).
Waynesboro at War - Civil War Weekend

Come join us for a step back into Waynesboro's history!  Talk with Civil War soldiers from both  armies, experience the sights, sounds and aromas of camp life from a bygone era, witness the thrill of charging cavalry, thundering artillery and the determination of the infantry as they battle. Participate in an 1860s base ball game between the Blue and the Grey on Saturday at 4pm!  
Virginia Chili, Blues n' Brews Festival

We're itchin' to give away more than $2,000 in prize money for the best in our Peoples' Choice cook-off.  We anticipate nearly 3,000 attendees, which equals a perfect opportunity (and audience) to show off your chili skills! Pro or amateur, we've gotcha covered! Chili tasting begins at 4 p.m. until it's gone! 
Mix chili with a large helping of amazing music, including DuWayne Burnside, Sun Dried Opossum, The Bush League, The Lorie Strother Blues Experience. 
What better way to top off the festival than with an assortment of carefully selected micro and mega brews! Whether it's a local brew or an American classic, you'll understand why we include "Brews" in the name. 
Coyner Springs Kite Fly

Coyner Springs Park 
Coyner Springs Kite Fly is fun for the young and young at heart! Bring your kites and come have a blast flying with other kite lovers.  No kite? No worries! We will be giving away over 300 kites! Grab your spot and watch as all sorts of kites fill the sky. Some kiting clubs will be there to show off their moves with stunt and ballet kites and single and multi-line kites. If the wind is good, the power kites may even come out! Bring your blanket and chairs- there will be plenty to see and do!

Activities: Kite Decorating & Contest, Bowl Kite Races, Art Tent, Pumpkins and Pinwheels, Apple Slingin' Contest, Horse Rides,
Old Fashioned Hay Rides, and Photo Stations.
