 September General Meeting

CHANGE OF LOCATION!!!

The September General Meeting will be held at Rollins Lake!  We are going to take a quick hike!

We will meet at 6pm at the parking lot on Rollins Lake Rd.
Due to the night time upon us, the hike will be about 1 hour in length.  We did this hike last year and it was a great hike.  So, take the time out in the middle of the week to have a relaxing hike with us!

Take Hwy-174 out to Rollins Lake (head out of Colfax towards Grass Valley), at the "Y", where Hwy-174 branches off to the left, keep going straight, that will be Rollins Lake Rd.  Follow it to the first dirt parking lot.

Where:  Rollins Lake, Dirt Parking Lot on Rollins Lake Rd
When:   Wednesday, September 27th
Time:     Gather at 5:45, Hike starts at 6pm

August General Meeting Re-cap

We had a very informative meeting in August!  Our guest speaker, Sonja Conklin, with AirAmbulance.  She had exciting news that the CalStar is now part of a private company with expanded service.

MVTA has decided to offer to their members, the ability to sign up for this service and obtain a discount for being a MVTA member.  We are still ironing out how this will work, and will let you know as soon as it is completed and ready for sign ups!

Many thanks to Sonja for taking the time to come and speak to our group.  This, for us who do hit the trails, could be a very good program!

MVTA HORSE'N AROUND HORSE SHOW

Mark your calendar for the MVTA Horse'N Around Horse Show, planned for October 21st!  As always, this show is for ALL!  Small children, adults, horses that have never shown, to the experienced.  It is above all, a FUN show, a very family oriented show.

We are still looking for help for the show, we could use Ribbon presenters, someone to help with the parking direction, sign-ups, "snack bar" either morning or lunch, and judge's assistant.  Please contact us if you would like to help out at the show!

Details on the classes being offered will be out shortly!  Please watch our Facebook page!

Time:  8:00am
Where:  Meadow Vista Public Arena
              Combie Rd

GPS VOLUNTEERS
MVTA is looking for volunteers that have GPS units that ride our trails, to GPS the trail for us while riding and then send us the output.  Our plan it to do an overlay of the GPS onto a topo map.  This will be kept on our website for people to use.

The only constraint that we have, is if you traverse over a private property without easement, we will not use that on our web page.
We are asking for GPS of official easement trails.

Please contact us if you would like to volunteer to so this for a trail or more.

HIDDEN FALLS PARKING LOT RESERVATIONS!
RESERVATION SYSTEM BEGINNING SEPTEMBER 1, 2017

In an effort to assure visitors of a parking space when they arrive, and to reduce the traffic impact on the surrounding neighbors, the County  implemented an online, reservation-based system of entry on September 1, 2017.  Patrons may reserve parking spots well in advance of their visit.  Reservations will be taken up to 5:00 AM the morning of the chosen date.  Starting October 15th, they will begin collecting fees for reservations made for peak times.
During high volume days (weekends, holidays, and some Fridays) during mild weather seasons (spring, early summer and fall) users will be required to pay $8.00 per vehicle for a full day reservation.  Except for some holiday times, there will not be a charge Mondays through Thursdays, nor will a reservation be required on those days.  Patrons need to obtain reservations before arriving at the park via an online calendar linked to our web site.
In order to allow people to take advantage of space left after the parking lot naturally thins out, they are prepared to issue a set number of partial day passes for $4.00 to people wishing to arrive
later in the day.
The horse trailer area will be reserved in the same way as the automobile area (same prices during the same peak days), but it will have its own separate quota of reservations to make sure the full gravel horse trailer area is kept just for vehicles with horse trailers.

 Trail Work Days
Some of you may have noticed that the Combie Rd trail (that follows the road), has had some clearing work done to it!  The County Parks was contacted to see if they could send out a crew to assist in clearing the trail as the berry bushes had taken it OVER! County Parks stepped up and had a crew out there clearing away the berry bushes and did a great job of it!  This trail is very important to the community, as it used for bikes, equestrians, hikers, kids going to school and people walking into town rather than driving a car!  Many thanks to Placer County Parks!

Our trail work for the month of September was pretty much placed on hold due to the long heat wave we had going.  Please stay tuned, as we might have a few more work days before this season is over!

Trail work days will be scheduled based on volunteer availability. If you are interested in helping with trail maintenance, please contact Chris at [email protected].  Chris will contact you to schedule a time that will work best for the participating volunteers.

ARENA
Manure
Please pick up and haul out your horse manure from the Arena and staging area.

We do not have a service to pick up the manure.  It is up to everyone using the arena to pick up their manure and haul it out. Please help keep our arena, staging area, and dog park clean!

Gate
Please make sure that the gate is closed and locked when you leave the arena.  People will illegally dump trash in the staging area, if the gate is open and no one is there.

If you see anyone dumping illegally, get their license plate number and call 911 with the information!
