IN THIS MONTH'S ISSUE:

Greetings CIM supporters and fans,

18 Center for Irish Music students are back on Minnesotan soil after an unforgettable trip to Ennis for the All-Ireland Fleadh.  Students and their families spent a week together learning tunes at Scoil Éigse, competing, sessioning, busking, going to world-class concerts and meeting traditional musicians from all over the world!  Thanks to all of you who supported this initiative.  The energy generated from this experience will fuel the CIM for years to come.

13 year-old CIM student, Carmen Pasquerella with her instructor Norah Rendell after placing 3rd in flute slow airs - CIM's first ever place at the All-Ireland Fleadh!
Our students played beautifully in solo, duo, trio and 3 group competitions (12-15 and 15-18 ceili bands, and 15-18 gruppa ceoil),  returning home with one place -  Carmen Pasquerella placed 3rd in the slow air competition in the 12-15 category.  Congratulations, Carmen!  We are so proud of you, and of all the CIM students who competed in Ireland.

Back on the home front, we are busy preparing for Fall term starting Tuesday, September 5th. Thanks to everyone who attended and volunteered their time at our Open House this past Sunday!

Register now for Fall term if you haven't already, and we hope to see you next week.

On behalf of all of us at CIM, we wish you a wonderful Labour Day weekend !

Ennis
CIM Students Make a Splash in Ennis

The All-Ireland Fleadh Cheoil in Ennis, Co. Clare was an incredible cultural experience for all students, families and instructors who attended.

CIM director, Norah Rendell led group rehearsals throughout the week, corralled the troupes and attended competitions. Cormac O'Shea naturally took a lead role as "fleadh Dad", carrying drums and doing "cultural liason" work along with Eamonn & Alisa Mee (who found the kit and reh earsal space).  Frank Pasquerella was a massive support, creating the solo competition schedule, carrying drums and setting up chairs for group competitions. Nick Coleman & Jeff Larsen were on documentation while Laura drove the fundraising and communications. Jode Dowling was there supporting students over the weekend and ALL of the parents were amazingly supportive of all of the students throughout the week - and great company too!

Thanks to the parents for taking the plunge and making the trip happen, to the instructors who prepared the students (in particular, kudos to Mary Vanorny, Brian Miller  and Norah Rendell who arranged music for the groups), and to the community for your support - both moral and financial. We could not have done this without you!
