was very successful. Over 360 children signed
up to read which is 21% more than last year!
Children read over 5100 hours

Teens
31 teens signed up to "Read for a Reason"

Adults
The library was excited to help promote
PBS's Great American Read as part
of our Summer Reading Program.
The Great American Read is a national initiative to encourage reading and to choose America's
favorite work of fiction. You can still vote for
your favorite classic.  PBS will be broadcasting
another television episode of The Great American
Read on Tues. September 11, at 8pm.

Historic Walk in Middleton

Sunday, Sept. 30
1:30 pm

This short urban walk (1/2 mile total) begins at the
Flint Public Library. Please gather in the Trustee Room
on the first floor. We will view the stunning stained-glass
windows and learn a bit about Charles L. Flint.

Then it's
off to the historic Tramp House in Middleton, one of the few tramp houses that is still standing. Participants will be able to go inside the Tramp house.

On the way we will stop at the Estey Tavern built in the 1700's for an inside tour and learn a bit of Middleton history.   On the way back, we will pass more historic landmarks and end the tour at the Middleton Historical Society's museum which is
adjacent to the Flint Public Library.

Participants may view
the collection and hear about the history of the building
and Lura Woodside Watkins, the first president of the
