Professionals Dedicated to Integrating Spirituality With Psychotherapy
and Health Care

Dear Friends,

You may have already heard the sad news of the passing of our dear Jeannette McCullough. Jeannette was a beloved friend, devoted chair of the SHCN steering committee, wise mentor, skilled shamanic practitioner and psychotherapist, lover of the web of life, joy advocate, and an all round awesome person. She has been integral to the heart and functioning of the SHCN since joining the steering committee 15 years ago. She has guided us, often single handedly, as the captain of our SHCN ship in thoughtful, loving and skillful ways. We have thrived and grown under her loving care. She will be missed deeply by all of us influenced by her kind and generous ways. I have offered to take over as chair of the SHCN steering committee in her honour.

SHCN is one of many communities that Jeannette was integral to. Representatives of these communities have collaborated to create a gathering and ceremony to honour her life and help support her and us on the journey forward. SHCN's next meeting was to be on September 26th led by Marilyn Daniels. We have decided to cancel this meeting to make this date available for the memorial gathering. So please note the SHCN meeting for Sept. 26th has been cancelled and will be rescheduled to a future date T.B.A. If you have paid in advance for this meeting, you will be credited for any future SHCN event. Should you require a refund we will gladly honour your request. If you, or others you know, have promoted Marilyn's SHCN presentation for the 26th, please notify them of the changes. Thank you for your help with this.

Jeannette's ceremony will be on Monday, the 26th of September at 7:00 p.m. (doors open at 6:30). It will take place in the Peace Lounge on the 7th floor of OISE, 252 Bloor Street West in Toronto. We will aim to end the ceremony by 8:30 p.m. and a reception will follow providing an opportunity to visit and share memories with others informally. Lite refreshments will be provided.

Several individuals and groups are officially scheduled to contribute to the ritual. Fifteen minutes will be offered for brief tributes from others present. We will also be creating a communal altar. Feel free to bring something meaningful to place on the altar as people gather. Please take your offering home with you afterwards, filled with the blessing of our time together.

We look forward to joining with you in person or in spirit to honour our dear Jeannette.

Warmly,

Larry Nusbaum
on behalf of the SHCN steering committee
