This Sunday marks the beginning of our process of congregational Discernment and visioning. Please make it a point to be present after either the 8 or 10:30 services. Jeanette McDonald from the Episcopal Church Foundation will be giving us an overview of this process. I also ask that you be in prayer, that the Holy Spirit guide this process and our congregation.
     Peace,
     Chris
Save the date...
Sunday, October 1st, immediately following the 10:30 service.  Jeanette McDonald, a Strategic Consultant from Episcopal Church Foundation will be with us as we kick off our year-long period of congregational discernment, planning, and visioning.
How to Help Hurricane Victims
Trinity on the Hill continues to collect funds and send out checks to Episcopal Relief and Development which is assisting those most impacted by this hurricane season, both in the States, U.S. Territories in the Caribbean, and in other countries in need. If you would like to donate to this cause, you may choose to put a check in the plate on Sunday, or bring it by the church office: make it out to "TOTH" and earmark it "Hurricane Relief" and we will add it to the next gift we send to ERD.
The Next Smith's Bucks order is due Tuesday Oct. 3
Kroger, the parent company for Smith's gives TOTH a percentage of your dollars when you load up cash value one of their gift cards ordered through TOTH. And you get your full value on your card! Also a plus is the fact that Smith's Bucks card users have noticed that these cards work easier at the register than any other payment method.
If you don't have a card yet, just put a check in the plate on Sunday and write "Smith's Bucks new card" on the memo line. We'll order you a card and let you know when it arrives (usually by Friday). When you reload money onto your card, it is usually loaded by Thursday of the same week.
The next deadlines for Smith's orders are on the Tuesdays during the week immediately after LANL paydays: Oct. 3, 17 & 31, Nov. 14 & 28. Mark your calendars! Thank you for your participation!
UNITED THANK OFFERING
Our parish's collective offering will be presented at the Convention Eucharist in El Paso on October 19. Therefore, our Ingathering will take place on Sunday, October 15 , at all three services (8:00 am, 10:30 am, and Evensong at 6:00 pm). If you or your family have not picked up your little blue box in the Narthex, NOW is the time! And of course, don't forget to bring it back (full of coins or dollars, representing your thanks and gratefulness to God for all your daily blessings) on October 15.
PILGRIMAGE TO ENGLAND WITH TOTH -- JULY 2018
Singers and those who love music are invited to join an Anglican Heritage Pilgrimage to England, July 12-23, 2018.
After exploring London, Windsor Castle and Canterbury Cathedral, we will use Portsmouth Cathedral as a home base; our gift is to offer the Cathedral a TOTH "Pilgrim Choir" to sing several Evensong services and a Sunday principal mass.
Between rehearsals (and while singers are rehearsing), a luxury coach will take the group many places in the region including Oxford, Bath, Brighton, Salisbury, Stonehenge, HMS Victory and the Mary Rose!
If you think you might be interested, please contact John Singleton or Judy Crocker very soon. The church has already paid a deposit to the tour company!
The cost, including airfare, accommodations and two meals a day, will be something less than $5,000 per person (depending on single/double occupancy) for airfare, transport, accommodations, entry fees, two meals a day, etc. Not included is your pocket money, travel insurance, and a handful of meals on your own.

Scholarship funds will be needed to help our youngest singers participate, so if you can't go, please consider contributing to the TOTH Youth Choir Scholarship Fund.
Thanks to all who have committed to the tour or donated already!

Kamndon Family Needs - An urgent request from Tarrie Burnett, Lutheran Family Services in Albuquerque
If anyone  has leads on the following, please send e-mail to interfaith.losalamos@gmail.com.
We've some great news to share!  The Kamndon minivan is now parked in a secure location!  In addition, we're informed that Higuette will be taking the test to obtain a learner's permit this coming Wednesday!  Please let's all lift her up with our continued prayers.

In addition, we are still asking for your assistance with the following needs:
  • Housing leads: The Kamndon family is currently housed in two adjacent apartments in Albuquerque.  Their lease expires October 31 and will not be renewed.  Seeking 4 to 5 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, in ABQ (south of Montgomery, east of I-25), close to schools, handicap-accessible.  If you know of someone willing to rent their ABQ property, please contact us ASAP.  Right now, LFS is looking for a 4-bedroom apartment.  LFS will pay the rent for several months in advance using the charitable funds collected for the family.  A longer-term housing solution is becoming more and more critical.  LFS cannot support this family forever.  If members of your congregation have a property in ABQ (or have friends in ABQ with a property) that might work, or if you know of a realtor friend who may have leads, please consider following up with them for possibilities and then contacting us at interfaith.losalamos@gmail.com.
  • Sango speaker: An individual who can speak Sango is needed to lend communication support to the Kamdons, especially the mother Higuette, as well as another refugee family from the Central African Republic.
Many thanks to each of you for the positive impact you are having!

SAVE YOUR USED PILL BOTTLES!
We are now collecting empty (washed out and labels removed--no pet hair on them) prescription pill bottles for the Trinity Builders to take to a mission clinic in Juarez.
A collection box is currently on the counter in the church office, but you can leave the pill bottles on the narthex table or outside the office, if the office door is closed.
This is another way to reduce our waste while helping others. Thank you. -- Allie Thompson

She will explore what monastic and Benedictine spirituality can teach us about living in today's world, and how we can live the Mystery of Christ creatively. A reception follows her talk.
This free presentation is sponsored by the Holy Faith Library as part of the Scheffler Lecture Series. On Saturday, October 28, we offer a Quiet Morning to pursue the themes raised by Sr. Donald in her address. The morning begins with a continental breakfast, followed by Morning Prayer at 9 a.m., a series of meditations by Sr. Donald interspersed with periods for silent reflection, and concluding with a Eucharist at noon.

Somos Amigos of Northern New Mexico
Hi Folks,

Thanks to everyone last weekend who helped out with our project.  The owners now have two doors--front and back--that work and are safe.  The electric boxes are all protected with covers, the skirting is almost complete, plumbing has started and the kitchen floor is currently being worked on by the partner family.
We will be working on Friday and Saturday, the 29th and 30th.  We will start at 9:00 and end about 3:30.  The project is near Abiquiu.  Please call me for directions and to let me know if you are coming.
If you plan to make a work date later in October, let me know also please so that I can pencil you in.  We had a newbie last weekend working on the skirting, an old hand (not pictured) who was very welcome to have back, some familiar faces and of course help from the family.  Thanks to everyone!
All skill levels are needed to finish up.  Your contribution to the effort is greatly appreciated.
We have a pretty good time too!
