Preuss Alumni Paying it Forward
By Jacqueline Le

Completing volunteer hours and our Senior Service Learning Projects brought a sense of satisfaction and accomplishment to us, as well as instilled the idea of "paying it forward". With this idea in mind, Preuss alumns are continually dedicating their time, energy, and talents to improve the quality of life in their communities. Pictured above is Antoinette Brou (UC Los Angeles '12) who coached a soccer team of a small rural town just outside of Baton Rouge, while she taught 6th grade Language Arts with the Teach for America in South Louisiana organization. Just like Antoinette, other Preuss alums have also decided to pay it forward by serving their communities!
Amanda Esquivel (UC San Diego '09) volunteered to coach Preuss' girl's varsity soccer team. Not only did the girls learned about teamwork, hardwork, determination, and resilience from Amanda, but Amanda herself walked away with valuable insight on just how crucial an impact being a teacher/mentor can make on a person's life. Did I mention they made it all the way to CIF Finals and made 2nd place in Division 5?

"I recently commissioned into the United States Army as a Second Lieutenant, in the Military Itelligence Corps....My dream is to serve my country as long as I can."

-Julio Ceasar Basso (New Mexico Military Institute '14)

Anh Pham Nguyen is serving Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam by practicing medicine at the Cho Ray Hospital ! In this picture he is fixing small skull fractures.

Yan Liu (UC Berkeley '17) is working alongside a nonprofit organization called Squash Drive, where she tutors and coaches young kids how to play squash!

This past year, Amara Tang (UC San Diego '16) was the Asian and Pacific Islander Student Alliance Learning and Empowerment Academic Program (APSA LEAP) Acess Coordinator. Together with a team of college students, Amara mentors and hosts after school programs and workshops for high school students at Crawford High School!

Hello! I'm Jacqueline Le! I will be helping Amaris as she studies abroad in Hong Kong. I am very excited to meet everyone! A little about myself: I graduated from Preuss in 2013 and am currently a second year at UCSD studying Public Health. You can find me playing lacrosse, trying new foods, or watching movies on Netflix. I'll see everyone at Homecoming!
