Is it really September? Hard to believe! Should I wish you a great start to fall or hope you savor what summer we have left? Dare I wish you a happy election season? Or perhaps I should just highlight what has, up to this point, been a pretty awesome couple of months? Let's go with that, as I am quite impressed with what our Chamber of Commerce has accomplished through the first 8 months of the year!
On August 22, a good number of you attended the Inaugural Business Bar Camp held at Kromrey Middle School (a fantastic collaborative space) as part of Forward Fest. This was sponsored and facilitated by the Chamber and more than 70 of you were in attendance, with over 15 "business related topics" chosen that day, for participants to discuss and delve into. A truly great "first event" that I am sure we will build on in future years.
At last weekend's Good Neighbor Festival, members could be seen working at the festival's information booth, 5K, Parade and within individual service clubs. The Chamber also took an active role in National Night Out, working in collaboration with member groups to bring our presence to the entire Middleton Community. In addition, the Biz Trolley Tours continue, highlighting local members' operations (next tour is on September 8, sign up!).
We successfully worked in conjunction with Middleton High School on a job fair for students, which included over 25 members actively marketing opportunities within their organizations. And our ongoing efforts of developing the Inspire-Madison Region program with the school district will help connect our members with high school individuals evaluating future career options.
Oh, and did I mention a record turnout Golf Outing, which included 260 participants and 90 volunteers? We also added Lunch & Learns to our programming deck of cards, while Get Moving Middleton, Business Social Hours, Economic Development Briefings, and Ask the Expert opportunities remain strong and amazing opportunities for current and potential members.
Did I forget anything? Hmmm.... That's right, after 30+ years of life at 7507 Hubbard Avenue, we moved to our new location at 7427 Elmwood Avenue. A space that I believe was truly meant for us to be in.
So I suppose I should rally for a longer summer to keep up the great work that has been accomplished so far this year. The good news is, no matter what season or year we may be in, I can guarantee you the Middleton Chamber of Commerce will continue to offer excellent programming to our members! I thank you all: the staff, Board of Directors, Ambassadors, Volunteers, Sponsors, and most importantly our Members.
Good things are always happening with the Middleton Chamber of Commerce!
Cheers,
