Ministry Weekend is this weekend!

Please join us for St. Brigid of Kildare Ministry Weekend September 24-25 in Hendricks Hall. We'll be launching the new parish mobile app, and will have food and refreshments after all Masses, along with representatives from our 60+ ministries to talk with and learn about the countless opportunities to get involved at St. Brigid.

We'll also be officially welcoming Father Morris and Becky O'Connor during our tapestry kick off this weekend. Father Morris will be at all five Masses that weekend and will meet parishioners for Ministry Weekend in Hendricks Hall following all Masses.

Please join us to officially welcome both Father Morris and Becky, and to enjoy snacks and refreshments while learning about St. Brigid of Kildare's dozens of ministries.
New Parish Mobile App Launching This Weekend

At St. Brigid of Kildare this year we are again focused on expanding on our message of hospitality and making our parishioners and visitors feel at home in our parish through our music, our messaging and our welcoming. As a part of these efforts we are happy to announce the launch of our own mobile app. The app will allow for a new way to get our messaging out and to engage our parishioners in Catholic life every day.

Our new app will allow us to send you useful and important messages throughout the week regarding our parish life and events, and allow you to reply to messages or RSVP for events. It can send you a reminder to silence your phone 20 minutes before the Mass you select. Many more great features will be a help to all of us, such as, daily Mass readings, Catholic news, prayers and prayer reminders, Confession reminders, and our weekly bulletin.

So, be sure to download the app after Mass this weekend by visiıng or searching for myparish on your phone's app store, and stay connected with us all week long.

There will be volunteers on hand at Ministry Weekend in Hendricks Hall to help with the app download, and there will be a scavenger hunt that will walk you through all the useful features of our app.

Are you stretched and would like a way to refuel and be refreshed while making authentic connections with others?

Would you like to have a better understanding of your faith and learn more about God?

If so, we invite you to join Walking With Purpose at St. Brigid of Kildare. Walking With Purpose is a Catholic Bible Study for women that aims to bring women to a deeper personal relationship with Jesus Christ by offering personal study and small group discussions that link our everyday challenges with the teachings of Christ and the Catholic Church. It will be offered on Wednesday evenings beginning September 28, from 7-8 PM in Immke Hall. The course is entitled: Opening Your Heart. This foundational, 22-week course is designed for women who are new to Walking With Purpose as well as those with more Bible study experience.

Join us as we examine the core questions that we wrestle with if we want to experience all that God has for us.

The Offertory Card: Why Do We Need It?
Each September St. Brigid of Kildare Parish launches its Stewardship Program called "St. Brigid Tapestry-Many Strands, One Parish." The goal of this program is to encourage the involvement of all parishioners, on a number of levels, in the communal and spiritual life of the Parish.

Another aspect of the program encourages families to commit a portion of their treasure to the parish. The Offertory Commitment card lists the four options available for receiving donations: Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT), Weekly envelopes; "Bill Me" pledge reminders or Additional ways to Give (stock, donor advised funds, or a one-time gift).

Returning the Offertory Commitment card is an effective way to communicate the decision you have made in regards to the best method of donating and to the financial commitment you are able to make to the parish for the year. As you have changes throughout the year, calling the parish to let us know about those updates will ensure we always have current records. For example, if you are signed up for EFT and your credit card number changes or has a new expiration date or if your offertory commitment needs to be modified, Jackie Mack can assist you via email, or phone call, 614-761-3734, ext. 247.

Reviewing the information printed on the card also assists the parish in keeping family records current. Have you moved? Have you canceled your "land line"? Have you changed your email address? Complete and current data is important for a parish to operate effectively.
Dr. Sax Presentation and Handout

Thanks to the over 350 St. Brigid community parents who attended the Dr. Sax presentation on September 15.
We have great hope that our children will benefit greatly - the stronger our parents and community become, the greater hope for our children.

Dr. Sax shared a handout with notes from his presentation that is available for our community. You can find that handout at this link.

Thank you to Jim Anderson for recording the entire presentation. If you missed it or want a refresher on something he said, you can find it at this link.

If you'd like to purchase The Collapse of Parenting at a discounted rate, books will be for sale at the SPiCE table.

Parishioners Gather to Help Parishioners

Bob and Stephanie Montag would like to thank the nearly 30 parishioners who pitched in on a Sunday after Mass to clear all the branches and debris from their yard. This was a true example of  loving hospitality and Christian fellowship.

"I feel so blessed to know such wonderful people from our church. To think so many people could come to our aid on such short notice and remove all that debris in 2 hours," said Bob.

The Montags would like to send their "prayers, gratitude, and love" to those volunteers and their families who so graciously donated their time to help the couple.

Knights of Columbus Award Scholarship

The St. Brigid of Kildare Knights of Columbus council awarded our latest scholarship recipient, Lewis M. Nerone, on August 8, 2016 at our monthly membership meeting.  Please join us in congratulating Lewis M. Nerone on this achievement.
Lewis has served the St. Brigid's parish community in many ways over the years, but recently he played an integral part in the 2015 STEM Lab renovation for the school as well as being an Altar Server.  In addition to his activities in the parish, Lewis is an Eagle Scout and has assisted with a variety of charities including: the Muscular Dystrophy Association, the Adaptive Adventure Sport Coalition, and Run the Race.
Lewis has graduated from St. Charles Preparatory School and is attending The Ohio State University.  He is planning to major in Mechanical Engineering.  Lewis was chosen from a particularly strong collection of applicants and St. Brigid's Knights of Columbus congratulate him on this honor.

Altar Servers Needed

All students in the fifth grade and older are invited to become altar servers for the weekend and Holy Day Masses.

We are currently in need of many more altar servers to fulfill the needs we have at St. Brigid of Kildare. To become an altar server, students only have to attend one evening class, read one short section from the Liturgical Ministry Manual, and attend three mentoring sessions with an experienced altar server. Do this and you are ready to be scheduled as an altar server. It is a rewarding experience!

Our next training session for altar servers is October 16, 2016, Sunday afternoon in the church from 3:00 p.m. until 4:45 p.m. For more information, please contact Todd Pepe or Steve Gyuro at Please register by October 9 so we can be prepared to welcome you. Registration forms are also available in the church kitchen. Return completed forms to the church office, the church kitchen, or email to

Liturgical Ministry Training
Ministry service in your parish includes Eucharistic Ministers, Lectors, Ushers, Greeters, and Altar Servers (see above). These are not "volunteer" positions, but rather commitments to serve. Your response to this calling is a blessing and we look forward to your joining us in service through these ministries!

The training for all of the ministries will be held in the church on October 15 from 8:30 am - noon. Registrations forms are available in the church kitchen. Please contact Vicky Humphrey with questions at
