Welcome to the new Downshift Newsletter. This will be our monthly communications to the membership and other interested parties. Please remember the Downshift and KYSCCA.com are the official communications of KYR and any social media posts are completely unofficial. 

The Downshift going forward will be sent on or around the first day of each month. If you would like to include any information in the newsletter please submit it to kyscca.re@gmail.com by the 20th of the current month for inclusion in the next Downshift.

Points Event #7 – September 3rd at NCM

2017 Season is upon us!
The season is in full swing and our next event is coming up next weekend at NCM in Bowling Green, KY. Only 2 events left, Points Event 7 on September 3rd and Points Event 8, a GLDIV Event, on October 8th.

REMINDER: We will be strictly enforcing sound limits for NCM Events. At 95db, you will be warned and asked to make a change to your car before you take your next run. If you make a change and register 98db or greater, your runs for the day will be registered as DSQ.
LS FEST WORKERS NEEDED!
Once again the KY Region SCCA will be assisting with putting on the events at the 2017 Holley LSFest in Bowling Green, KY on September 8-10, 2017. This is a great way to see awesome cars up close and personal and help the club out. The club will cover your expenses if you work the weekend. Please email Dave Melton for more information or to sign up to volunteer, space is limited.  davemeltonproperties@gmail.com
   
KYSCCA 2018 Elections: Seeking Nominations and Candidates
The club will hold elections for the 2018 year in October/November 2017. If you are interested in running for a position please let a board member know via email or in person, or email to kyscca.re@gmail.com. We will be taking nominations for the month of September and will be mailing out ballots to be tallied at the November membership meeting.

For 2018, the positions on the ballot will be Regional Executive, Secretary, Treasurer, Activities Director, and 2 positions on the Board of Trustees.

For those that haven't read the bylaws recently here are the descriptions of the positions.

3.2 REGIONAL EXECUTIVE
The Regional Executive shall preside over the regular and special meeting of the membership of the Corporation and all other non-Board Meeting of the general membership, conduct elections, appoint committees, name chairmen, appoint persons to fill administrative positions as needed, and be the chief executive officer of the Corporation. Except as herein restricted or defined, the Regional Executive shall have the authority to act in the same manner and for the same purpose as the president of a like or similar corporation.
3.3 SECRETARY
The Secretary and/or assistant shall keep minutes of all meetings of the membership of the Board of Trustees, and shall have the same available, for his/her term of office and the preceding year, at all official meetings. The Secretary shall be responsible for all correspondence of the Corporation and such duties within the office as are or may be delegated to said officer by the Board of Trustees and/or Regional Executive. The Secretary shall have authority to act in the same manner and for the same purpose as the secretary of a like or similar corporation.
3.4 TREASURER
The Treasurer shall be custodian of all funds of the Corporation and its Chief Fiscal Officer. Said officer shall maintain the Corporation's financial records in a recognized accounting or bookkeeping manner as directed by the Board of Trustees. The Treasurer shall make monthly reports of the financial transactions and affairs of the Corporation, and shall have all of the same available at all official meetings such reports as have been made and kept for the preceding year. Said officer shall, at Corporation expense, procure a fidelity bond in the amount at least equal to the beginning annual bank balance. Any person unable to procure such bond shall forthwith tender his/her resignation. 
3.5 ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR
The Activities Director shall be in overall charge of, and be responsible for, all club events and the keeping and maintenance of all records relevant thereto such as required by the Sports Car Club of America or the Corporation. 

Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees shall be the legislative, judicial and policy-making body of the Corporation.
