Hello
from Big Brothers Big Sisters of
Broward!
Dear Friend,
We are in the midst of
celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month and would like to pay
tribute to all of our Hispanic/Latino Bigs, Littles, donors,
parents and staff! Thank you for all you do to positively influence
and enrich our community. Muchas gracias!
I'd also like to give a sizzling thank you to all of the
folks at Publix Apron's Cooking School for making "An Evening with
Paula Deen" absolutely spectacular. The sold-out event raised
nearly $6,000 for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward to expand our
programs into one more school.
It's not too late to purchase tickets to our largest annual
fund-raising event, Deja Vu Homecoming. Join us for this
"out-of-sight" celebration to help change more lives in our
community. You won't want to miss it! Follow this link for
more information.
Remember to check us
out on Facebook, follow
us on Twitter and watch
some really great videos on our YouTube
channel.
As always, I encourage you to donate, volunteer or forward this email to a friend. Start
something BIG!

Aquanauts Scuba Diving
Adventure
Aquanauts Scuba Academy recently
extended an exciting scuba diving experience to 10 lucky children
served by Big Brothers Big Sisters of Broward County. This
extraordinary opportunity was first brought to the agency by one of
our very own Big Brothers, Chad Chernet, due to his involvement
with Diveheart.
Chad said, "I am very glad that everyone thoroughly enjoyed
themselves. Nothing makes me happier than teaching people how to
scuba dive."
The purpose of this event was to provide children a sense of
accomplishment, self-confidence and independence. The program
included a unique underwater orientation to scuba. Some children
may also have the opportunity to take part in a second event which
includes an open water dive.
Marcia Harris, a parent of two children who participated in the
event said, "This program is incredible and my kids could not stop
talking about it. I am a certified diver and I was listening to
everything the instructor told them. He used language they could
understand and was very detailed. They can't wait to go back for
the second lesson."
