The ACT Art Gallery opens the season with
Modern Legends
, a contemporary First Nations exhibition featuring rising stars,
Sonny Assu
(Kwakwakwa),
Brandon Gabriel
(Kwantlen),
Corey Moraes
(Tsimshian) and
Carrielynn Victor
(Sto:lo).
With its comic book super heroes, graffiti-inspired narratives and mystical beings, this show demonstrates the enduring power of traditional storytelling within a strikingly modern context.
In Canada's 150th year, we're leaving it up to these young indigenous artists to control the narrative in sharing their own Modern Legends.
Opening Reception
Saturday, September 9th
2:00 pm – 4:00 pm
