Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue
Live.  Love.  Rescue.
September 2016

Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue is a non-profit, completely volunteer-driven organization dedicated to saving and re-homing Bulldogs with loving families.
Hundreds of Bulldogs are lost, abandoned, taken to animal shelters, or surrendered to rescue every year. Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue accepts Bulldogs whose owners can no longer keep them, and retrieve Bulldogs from shelters and undesirable situations. Our Bulldogs are placed in suitable homes as soon as reasonably possible.
Catching Up With Tully (Toby Keith)

"Dogs have a way of finding the people who need them....and filling an emptiness we didn't even know we had."  Roughly a year ago we struggled to decide if/when we should adopt a bulldog because we had lost two of our beloved bullies that year. There was a tremendous void that we felt would be unfair to have any animal fill because the pain was so fresh. Well, being a sucker and having great luck with Lone Star Bulldog Rescue in the past, we gave it another shot regardless. In October we adopted a beautiful beefy boy we named Tully (aka Toby Keith). He was a supposed 6 year old who was part of a multi-dog rescue.  He had the typical skin issues and an odd behavior of only taking food from a person's hand at first. Well Amber, his foster mom, did an incredible job of getting the skin under control and breaking him of the no bowl policy he had.  When I came and got him he was apprehensive at first to the point he only wanted to ride in the back of the car all the way from Texas to Colorado. But along our journey, there was one instant I knew we were meant to meet. Three hours into our drive we had an encounter with Texas's finest due to me speeding, and when the officer tried to ask any questions Tully barked at every word. Odd, but it got us off and moving because the officer could not get in the last word. All I could do was laugh.

As months went by Tully became comfortable with his surroundings and even got to the point of rolling over for the belly scratch. He has even masterminded using the foosball table as a back scratch. Smart! What truly is amazing is that he never wants to be without you in a good way. He is my shadow and he goes everywhere I can take him from being my buddy fishing, helping me sort out shopping at Lowes, and just watching me wrench in the garage.  He is calm and a very gentle soul that has taught me to relax and go at a bulldog's pace. What I always find funny about bullies that are rescued is they love their collars (sign of someone cares) and they love their people. But truly we didn't save him....he repaired our hearts.  So at almost a year...adopting Tully was one of the greatest things we have done, and I hope for many memories down the road.

Bull-O-Ween 2016 -- October 29
Let's get together to celebrate cooler weather, the onset of fall and Halloween... Bulldog style! Bring your well-behaved, leashed, vaccinated four-legged friends and family members (they don't need to be leashed) to the 2016 Bull-O-Ween and help raise much needed funds for Lone Star Bulldog Club Rescue. We'll have a costume contest for the dogs, so you may want to start planning your outfits now!

Goody bags will be provided to the first 100 attendees. If you or your company would like to donate promo items, gift cards or coupons for the 100 bags, please contact events@dfwbulldogrescue. We'll need the items in hand by Oct. 15. Also, we will have a limited number of slots available for vendors. If you are interested in participating, please contact events@dfwbulldogrescue.org. All vendors will need to be secured by Oct. 15.

Our new location is much, much larger so we're excited to have more breathing room for all the attendees! Sponsors are also needed to help us offset the cost of this event. If you are interested in learning more, email us at events@dfwbulldogrescue.org.
