Worship with Us!
The Mums are coming and Faith is "Growing"!!

The youth will be selling mums again this year to help fund their Confirmation retreat.  These big, beautiful mums are in the final stages of ripening and preparing to beautify your front porch. We will be using the same vendor as previous years and the plants were absolutely gorgeous. The mums will be available for pick up mid-September, and just $10.00 each.  Payments will be collected at time of pick up. Please pre-order by filling out the forms in the bulletins, or by calling the office at 262-248-4211.  Thank you for supporting this vital ministry.

Praise Team:  Rehearses Wednesdays, 7:30 PM

Praise Team members vibrantly lead contemporary worship songs each week at 9:45 and 11:07, help lead special services throughout the year, and represent Immanuel in the community. We are blessed immeasurably by their dedication and superb leadership! Weekly rehearsals are on Wednesday nights at 7:30PM
Some musical training is necessary and members are required to attend rehearsals. Please contact Adam Smith at music@immanuellg.org  if you are interested in joining the team!

Prayer Requests

We appreciate all of your prayer requests each week! We want to continue praying for all individuals because we know how powerful prayer is in the lives of so many.  On the first of the new month, we will restart the prayer list.  If someone needs to stay on the list, just let Bethany know by using the worship card found in the weekly bulletin, calling the church office (262.248.4211), emailing Bethany at  secretary@immanuellg.org , or dropping off a note in the church office.  We want your requests, so we can continue praying for those in need.

Name Tags Available

Many of Immanuel's members have requested name tags be available for themselves in hopes we become an even closer family. This is not a new idea but Council agrees now is a good time to make them available.  Our membership has grown and is dispersed in three services.  Also, as a new pastor arrives, it will help us get to know each other better.
Beginning Sunday, September 10th, envelopes will be available at the Welcome Center.  Simply put your name, as you want it on your name tag on the envelope and put $5 in the envelope for each name tag. A name will be printed for you and you can pick it up at the Welcome center within a few weeks.   Jill Rosenthal - Cell: 262-949-2569

MISSION

Tree House

The Tree House is in need of ongoing supplies...these include certain snacks, toys, books, "Lovie" blankets, etc.  Often times, children arrive hungry, thirsty and haven't eaten in a while or may be at The Tree House for several hours.  Items such as individually sealed crackers, juice boxes, bottled water, packaged fruit snacks or other healthy packaged, non-perishable food items would be greatly appreciated.
Also, upon completing the forensic interview, physical exam and/or counseling session, all children are offered a small toy or game.  These items must be NEW in accordance with Children's Hospital rules.  Examples would be board games, action figures, dolls, books, crafts or activities, sports items, stuffed animals, hot wheels, and/or toy trucks.  The cost for these items range between $5 to $10.  Anyone who would like to shop for these items is welcome to.  Another option is to make a monetary contribution.  Checks should be written to the WCAC and sent to W4063 Hwy NN, Elkhorn 53121.  Indicate on the memo line that your donation is for "snacks" or "toys".  You will receive an acknowledgement for tax purposes.
Please place any donations you may have in the box marked with the WCAC sign on it which is located in the Gathering Space next to a Poster regarding The WCAC/Tree House.  Please remember that the advocacy center is a division of Children's Hospital of Milwaukee and requires that all toys, books, etc. must be NEW and should not be wrapped.  Check out the website for more information on the WCAC and how you can be of assistance...  www.wcac4kids.org .
If you, your family or members of a small group or other ministry group would like to join in bringing joy to these children and families, please contact Evie Schulz for further information. You will be blessed for being a blessing.

 "HEARTS TO CARE"

Hands to Share and Time to Spare

Our new "Hearts to Care Ministry" is up and running.  There is nothing better than the feeling you get when you help someone who is struggling.  The relief on that person's face and the gratitude they express and the hugs of thanks are priceless.  We are excited to now be at the point for "worker bees" to join our awesome group.
Please become a member of our "Hands to Share" Team-we are looking for folks who are willing to devote a couple hours, as needed, to help with transportation (especially to and from church), do light housekeeping, lawn mowing, raking, snow removal, minor home repair, minor auto repair, and those with gifts in plumbing, electrical, carpentry and computers.  No doubt we have left out some areas.  Share your ideas and skills with us.
If you have a heart for people, please come on board.   Contact these core team members for additional information: Mike Brooks, Marilyn Heiden, Judy Guy, Steve Guy, Madeline Killian, Jill Rosenthal or Bob Rosenthal.   Or call Evie at 262-728-6542 or email her at ministry_coord@immanuellg.org
No money has been allocated in the budget for Hearts to Care; therefore, the ministry would also appreciate monetary donations to help with expenses that may occur when we need to purchase items to help with repair and other miscellaneous supplies.  If you feel called to help in this way, no gift is "too small".  Make a check payable to Immanuel with "Hearts to Care" in the memo line, so that your donation can be added to your giving account.  Cash donations are also gratefully appreciated.

You will be blessed to be a blessing!

God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help others...
1st Peter 4:10-11

Care Team

The Care Team will meet again on Wednesday, September 27th at 7pm.  All our welcome. This is an important time for us to share and communicate about the shut-in members we are caring for.  Please contact Kristin Larkin at 414-491-1969 or  email her at  kristinlarkin@yahoo.com  for more info.  Also, if you have names of members who have indicated they would be in need of a visit from the Care Team please let Kristin or Bethany know and they will be added to the list of people enjoying visits from this wonderful ministry.

"Stitchin' for Kids"

The Wednesday morning quilters have a special project in the works.  They will be making fleece blankets for the children who come to The Tree House (Children's Advocacy Center, Elkhorn) due to suspected physical or sexual abuse and/or neglect.  Age range is anywhere from a couple weeks old to 17 years of age.  This can be a traumatic experience for these precious souls and the Tree House staff has found that if they are able to give them a "Lovie" when they arrive, or leave, it helps calm and sooth the children while the process is taking place.   If you would like to help with this worthwhile endeavor, many hands make the project go quickly besides the fact that it's fun!  Contact Jackie Kuehl for more information.   Another way to be involved is to give a monetary donation to help offset the cost of each blanket ($20 per blanket).  Donations can be placed in an envelope with "Stitching for Kids" on the outside and left with Bethany in the church office.  If you prefer to write a check, make it out to Immanuel Lutheran Church and put "Stitchin' for Kids" on the memo line.   The Wednesday morning quilters plan to have this as an ongoing project.  Last year 300+ children were served at the Tree House...that is a lot of blankets. Thank you for whatever you can do to be of assistance to these children.

Community Connection Meal

Our next Community Connection Meal will be on Thursday, September 21st from 5:15 - 6:30pm.  Remember all of our Community Meals are FREE to those in our community who are hungry, lonely or need fellowship.  If you know someone who could use fellowship and a meal, invite them to dinner. Want to help? Volunteers are needed to help prep on Wednesday, September 20th starting at 1:00pm and/or Thursday, September 21st starting at 4:00pm. We would also love folks to donate any kind of apple dessert.   Contact Linda Martin at linnywain0323@gmail.com if you can volunteer or donate desserts.
We'd like to extend a big thank you to 28 people that volunteered in August and contributed the many wonderful brownies for our guests to enjoy.  We'd also like to extend a thank you to the WC Food Pantry for their donations of fresh fruit. We were also blessed and very grateful to be able to use the remainder of the $250.00 donation given through the Thrivent Action Team program to Community Connection.  Culver's Custard was very enjoyed at the August meal and we thank them for their generous gift providing 100 guests with their delicious custard!

If you know someone that would benefit from a meal and some company, please welcome them to come to the Community Connection meal September 21st and give them one of our flyers.

THANKS

+     Dear Immanuel Family, I wanted to express a heartfelt thank you to all who participated in the celebration of Jada Mae Melito's precious short-lived life. It was truly a tribute to her and all she meant to us in our faith community. Thanks to Pastor Carl for his inspirational word, Adam, Robyn, and the Praise team were outstanding, and Ken and Rick on the soundboard. Also, thanks to Judy Guy for organizing the communion assistants and ushers. Many thanks to all who donated food and the volunteers who served, and cleaned up the wonderful luncheon for our family and friends. Thank you to all our Immanuel family for their love and support during our time of grief. Our God is Great and is working through all of us each and every day.
Sincerely ~ Joe and Becky Melito &John and Jane Noyer

+     Dear Immanuel Lutheran Church, Thank you for your continued support blankets, snacks, toys, and juice.  These items are so necessary and are desperately needed!  Thank you for your partnership in fighting abuse against children!  Most Sincerely - Bridget

+     Thank you to whoever made the prayer shawl!  The love that went into it surely is appreciated and all of the prayers worked as Gary is healing nicely and is in little pain.  Your prayers were certainly a comfort to Gary and myself.  Be well - Beth Mol
