Advancing Women In Leadership
Advancing Women_Butler

Women continue to blaze the trail to advance to the top of organizations, currently holding about half of the country's managerial and professional jobs. While this is a dramatic increase from 20 years ago, women are still vastly underrepresented in the senior executive ranks.

As women navigate the path to higher management positions, they are challenged to define and develop their unique leadership style to enhance their effectiveness and impact in their organizations. Women must proactively manage their growth and development to prepare for the leadership roles they desire.

Through an action learning approach, Advancing Women in Leadership will help you uncover and integrate your unique strengths and qualities that will help you thrive and succeed in your current and future leadership roles.

Advancing Women in Leadership will be based in part on the Emotional Intelligence leadership methodology. To enhance real life learning, participants will participate in a variety of learning methodologies, including self-assessments, lecture, case study discussion, reflection, experiential and action-based role playing and peer coaching. Outcomes include 360-degree assessment, a personal leadership development plan and peer coaching skills.

"All of us need to understand the importance of branding. We are CEOs of our own companies: Me Inc. To be in business today, our most important job is to be head marketer for the brand called You." - Tom Peters in Fast Company

Have you ever wondered how others see you? Have you ever tried to control the way others perceive you? If you answered yes to these questions, you may not have realized it, but you have already started to take command of your personal brand. We all consciously care about the way others view us, but most times we don't consider our own power in shaping the values, abilities and actions that others associate with us. If we dig a little deeper, we can all create a powerful and clear representation of what we stand for - create our own personal brand.... read more →...

The leader as a coach: It's not optional

Bill O'Donnell, Butler University

Because people come from a variety of backgrounds, with their own unique values and beliefs, leaders need to have a variety of coaching tools at their disposal. Being able to confidently address challenging situations in your work teams is not an optional skill: it is essential.

This practical workshop will address your role as coach to your team, and to the individuals in your
team. We will explore coaching models and dive into case studies that bring to life the week to week challenges that require our commitment to developing others, and necessarily draw on our effective coaching skills.

You will leave this applied workshop with a deeper understanding of what coaching is, what best practice coaching includes; what 'your model' of coaching is, and how it fits your leadership style/approach; and what tools you can use to become a more effective coach to individual employees and your team(s).

2013 Charity Spotlight: St. Mary's Child Center
St. Mary's Child Center Integrating Women Leader's is extremely proud to be supporting St. Mary's Child Center as its Charity Spotlight for the 2013 Women's Leadership Conference.

Given the "Brand You!" theme of this year's conference, this organization was a great selection given the remarkable work they do in helping at-risk 3-5 year old children who are born into poverty.

Research shows that the involvement of a child in a high quality early childhood program results in significant life-long positive outcomes including higher IQ scores, achievement levels and graduation rates. In addition, these children are less likely to be retained, enrolled in special education or incarcerated.

Learning to Lead Through Mentoring
By: Alison Martin-Books

President and CEO of Mentoring Women's Network

Despite many years of working to achieve equality for women in the workplace, the gender gap is still very real. Women are emerging as leaders in the workplace, but most often are not making it into the C-suite. Cultivating mentoring relationships and sharing knowledge and experience with others is an important piece in the overall strategy of advancing women leaders. This book explains how mentoring can impact lives and careers, as well as a toolkit for cultivating your own mentoring relationships.
