Peace and Greetings:
And we're off ... excited about the possibilities a new year brings and the inspiring moments of greatness our students will achieve, each in their own unique way utilizing the gifts God has bestowed on them.
As reported last week, opening day enrollment is 460 students, our targeted capacity, and the highest in nearly thirty years. This is something all of us can be proud of. Thank you again for choosing St. Paul and the trust you place in us as your educational partner.
A few housekeeping items that need your attention: (1) It is imperative, if you
haven't already, that your Emergency Information Card and SPCHS Information Form (Emergency Parent Reach) be returned no later than Monday, September 11. We will be conducting our emergency lockdown procedures and testing our parent notification system soon. (2) You are expected to read and discuss with your child the Student Handbook, located on our website before printing, signing and returning the Agreement for Students and Parents (found under the Student Life tab).
A few important September parent events:
St. Paul, in conjunction with St. Joseph School, St. Matthew School, and Southington Catholic is sponsoring Richard Guerry, "Public & Permanent - Motivate Responsible Use of Technology & Prevent Digital Abuse" on Monday, September 18 at 6:30 pm in our auditorium.Mr. Guerry is the Founder & Executive Director of the Institute for Responsible Online & Cell-Phone Communication. He is recognized as a national digital safety expert by various media outlets, international networks and publications. This presentation is for parents/guardians only. A student presentation will be held during school on Tuesday, September 19.
An important Athletic Parent Meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 20 at 5:30 p.m. in the auditorium for all parents/guardians whose child plans to participate on a St. Paul athletic team (varsity or sub-varsity) this school year. Our annual Parent Back-to-School Night will follow the Athletic Parent Meeting from 6:30 - 8:45 p.m. Following a brief welcome, you will have the opportunity to meet your child's teachers. A parent/guardian from every family is encouraged to attend.
Our first "Open House" for prospective students for the Class of 2022 will be Saturday, September 23 at 10:00 am. You are our best ambassadors and we are truly grateful for your encouraging testimonials to prospective families and friends in your local community.
On Monday, September 25 we will celebrate "Family Day: A Day to Eat With Your Children." Students and faculty will share a special lunch together at St. Paul. It is important that we instill in our students the value of a family meal and the conversations that are shared. Please reinforce this theme at home with a special family breakfast or dinner on that day.
Academic classes are in full swing. The welcome back dance is tomorrow night. Fall athletic teams begin interscholastic competition tomorrow afternoon. Play auditions have begun. Feels like we never left!
In the Spirit of St. Paul,
