Book Sale Donations  Now Being Accepted!
The Annual Patterson Library Friends Book Sale is coming soon. Donations of gently used books, DVDs & CDs are now being accepted. Donations may be placed in the marked storage pod in the parking lot. Please do not bring textbooks, magazines, VHS or audio cassettes. Thank you for your continued support.
School Supply Drive
 
Please donate new school supplies and help us give our local kids in need a great start to the school year. Notebooks, binders, crayons, backpacks, pens, pencils, markers, lunch boxes, rulers and other supplies are greatly appreciated. Supplies will be collected in the vestibule during business hours through August 31.
Busy Summer for Teens

The Patterson Library teens have been busy all summer! For the first time this year, both high school and middle school teams will compete in the Battle of the Books competition. The teens will read selected titles and compete against other libraries in a fast paced trivia competition based on the books they've read. In addition, teens have been busy volunteering in our Learning Buddies  program tutoring younger students and planning events as part of the Teen Advisory Group.  Special thanks to the Patterson Rotary for donating and supporting our teen programs.

Don Spaulding: Artist, Illustrator, and Student of Norman Rockwell

Come meet renowned artist Don Spaulding, one of the few people to study under Norman Rockwell. Known for his dynamic representations of the American West and his work on the covers of The Lone Ranger, Tonto and Buck Jones, Don will talk about his fascinating career as a professional artist and illustrator.

Fall Story Times With
Miss Kathleen
September 26 to November 7
Wednesdays 11:00 - 11:45 AM
This story time for kids 2 and under will have babies laughing, singing and having a great time as they play with a fun assortment of toys and meet new friends!
* caregivers must stay with child in story time
 
Tuesdays 10:30 - 11 AM 
Two-year old kids will have a blast reading stories, singing lively, interactive songs and creating awesome crafts at this super-fun story time! 
*caregivers must stay with child in story time

Tuesdays 11:30 AM - 12 PM
Caregivers can now stay with their two & three year olds that are not quite ready for independent story time. Kids will have a great time reading fun stories, singing happy songs and making fun, artsy stuff!

Preschool Power
Thursdays 1:00-1:45 PM
Kids ages 3-5 can get dropped off for an exciting story time experience! Great stories, fun art projects and lively group sing-a-longs will make story time feel like a party!

My First Book Club
Every Other Wednesday 4:30 PM
Miss Kathleen takes kids on their first reading adventure in this exciting book club for kids in kindergarten and first grade. Fun games, great stories and new friends will make this a club every kid wants to join! Begins September 14.
 
“Let’s Get Real”
Every other Wednesday  4:30 PM
Second and third graders will read awesome books at home, then meet for an activity filled afternoon talking about the book, creating awesome art, playing interactive games, and more! Begins September 21. 
 
Paper and Popcorn Book Club
Friday, September 23, October 14, and
November 18   4:30 PM
Third and fourth graders will read a selection of fantastic books at home, then join Miss Kathleen and Miss Jenn to watch the movie version of the book and have an interesting discussion over popcorn, to compare the book and film. 
 
High School Book Club and Dinner 
Thursday, October 6, November 10, and December 8
Books and food, it doesn't get much better! In this "book & dine" club teens will read 3 fascinating books at home, then join Miss Jenn and Miss Kathleen for a lively interactive book discussion while enjoying a delicious dinner with friends! 
Lego Club

Kids in grades K and up, use our LEGOs to show off your incredible imagination and building skills by tackling our monthly theme, or a theme of your own.  We have a limited number of base plates, so if you can bring your own to use, that would be great! LEGO creations will be displayed in the Family Center! 
Intro to Guitar

Has your child always wanted to try playing guitar? Instructor Joe Krzyzewski from The Music Cottage will introduce kids to the basics of guitar including techniques as well as simple chords! Guitars will be provided. For grades 4-8.

High School Battle of the Books

Come out to support the  Patterson Library's High School Battle of the Books  team as they compete to win the first annual High School BOB competition! The competition will be held at Mizzentop Day School in Pawling, New York and will begin at 6 PM. 

Monday, August 22  1-3 PM
Kids who participated in the Summer Reading Game or attended summer programs are welcome to join us for an ice cream party with a performance by Patterson Library's theater kids as they perform a number from  High School Musical Junior . Rain date is Tuesday, August 23.
