September Programs 2014

Dear Patron,
   September is a month of transitions. From summer to autumn, from vacation to school, from hot days to cool nights change is in the air. New beginnings energize us. We look forward to helping you find the information or entertainment you seek. Questions are always welcome. We hope to see you soon.

September 1 - 6

MON. Closed for Labor Day
 
TUES.  4:30pm 
Monthly meeting of the White Mountain Writers Group. Open to all genres, abilities and ages. This month we experiment with free association writing and sharing the results. All welcome! Potluck refreshments. 
SAME DAY, 6:30pm  
After the writers meeting enjoy a film streaming of "Authors Anonymous" a hilarious spoof on writers groups. Open to all.

September 8 - 13
 
MON. 6:00-8:00pm
Open Mic Night for poets, acoustic musicians, storytellers and writers. The featured performer this month is Mike Everyday at 7:00pm. Refreshments served. All welcome.

The Morning Book Group focuses on My Name Is Mary Sutter by Robin Oliveira. Copies available at the front desk now.  All welcome for coffee and great conversation.
SAME DAY, 4:00pm  
Meeting of the Trustees of the Conway Public Library. The public is invited.

 

TUES. 6:30pm
"A Hotel Goes to Peace not War" with Carl Lindblade of the NH Speakers Bureau. Few people realize the important role played by the North Country at the International Monetary Conference held at the Mt. Washington Hotel soon after World War II. Lindblade uses historic transcripts as well as eye witness accounts of locals who were there. Free and open to the public.
 
WED.  4:00pm
Monthly meeting of the Friends of the Conway Public Library. All welcome.
SAME DAY, 6:30pm
"Susan B. Anthony the Invincible!" performed by historical impersonator Sally Matson. Refreshments served. Free & open to the public thanks to the Friends
of the Conway Public Library.
PLEASE NOTE: the library closes at 6:30pm for all purposes except this special program.

Local Author Book Fair with published authors from all over the North Country. 
At this time participants include the following:

Sept. 22 - 27  Banned Book Week

MON. 6:30pm
Author of the Month Walter Bannon hosts a sharing of memories of World War II. Bring photos, mementos and stories of friends or relatives from that time. Refreshments served. Open to all.

TUES. 6:00-7:30pm
Tech Savvy Workshop provides one-on-one help with questions concerning technical devices from smart phones to lap tops and everything in between. Half an hour limit per question, please. Bring the device, any product info, passwords and account numbers that are necessary. First come, first served. Refreshments available. Free and open to the public.

THURS. 6:00pm
Book discussion for age 12 and older of The Maze Runner by James Dasher. Please stop by the library or call 603-447-5552 to register. Copies available now from Tara. Attend and get a chance to win free tickets to the film version coming soon to the Valley Cinema in North Conway.
