SBE voted on the following business items:
Presentations and discussions:
  • Equity Efforts and the EOGOAC - The Board discussed and agreed upon numerous collaborative efforts with the EOGOAC
  • System Outcomes for K-12 Data Presentation- The Board heard an update from staff on educational outcomes
  • House Bill 2224 Update: The Board heard an update from OSPI on a process for identifying the performance standard for 10th grade students to be on track for career and college readiness
  • BEA Waivers - The Board heard background on the waiver request under consideration
  • Student presentationStudent Board Member Joe Hofman gave a presentation about Important Lessons from K-12 Education & Their Influence on a Student's Perspective
  • Legislative Advocacy - The Board considered potential legislative priorities and strategies
  • Board Discussion - The Board spent two full days discussing: their mission and theory of action, their short-term initiatives and long-term vision, and creating an equity lens for their policy-making. You can read more on each agenda segment here
SBE conducted Executive Committee elections:
  • Chair: Kevin Laverty (2 year term)
  • Vice Chair: Peter Maier (2 year term)
  • Members at large:
    • Janis Avery (1 year term)
    • MJ Bolt (1 year term)
    • Patty Wood (1 year term)
