WalkingSchoolBus
Walking School Bus Initiative
In partnership with the West Allis Police Department and the City of West Allis, the West Allis-West Milwaukee School District is working on a new initiative to create Walking School Buses throughout our district. A Walking School Bus is a group of students who walk to school together under the supervision of an adult leader. This simple, safe, and healthy program will help to ensure that children arrive to school safe and on time. West Milwaukee Intermediate School will be the pilot school. We look forward to sharing more information on this initiative as it progresses.
Former Roosevelt Elementary Sold
The former Roosevelt Elementary School has been sold. Roosevelt was closed back in the mid-1990’s due in part to enrollment declines. The property was purchased by MCFI (Milwaukee Center for Independence). As part of the agreement of the sale, the district still holds a one acre lot on the east portion of the facility which is currently green space and a playground. This sale comes at a particularly important time as all funds are being directly applied to the district’s fund balance.

Each PTA unit is unique in the events, projects, programs, and benefits they offer. However, every unit provides a place for parents, teachers, students, and administrators to collaborate and build a strong sense of community that provides every child the tools and opportunities to make their potential a reality.  Click here to read more
