HURRICANE HARVEY
When a catastrophe such as Hurricane Harvey hits, cable companies respond, whether it’s all-hands-on-deck to restore service or through generous donations. In either case, it’s about community, not just customers. Often this dedication to service comes even as cable employees personally cope with the catastrophe’s impact on their own homes and families.
LABOR DAY
As the United States pauses on Labor Day on Sept. 4 on to honor American workers, the cable industry is proud of its contribution to the workforce and the economy. As a whole, the cable industry has created 2.9 million direct and indirect jobs leading to a $421 billion economic impact, according to a recent industry survey. In Texas, the survey found that in 2016, Texas’ primary operators – Altice USA/Suddenlink, Charter/Spectrum, Comcast/Xfinity and Vyve – generated 151,527 direct and indirect jobs, employed 16,614 and had a total economic impact of $22.5 billion.
