SYNCERE Partners with DePaul Steans Center |
|
Project
SYNCERE has partnered with the DePaul Steans Center as one of its
host organizations for the Fall 2010 semester. This semester,
students from the Steans Center will work with the staff of Project
SYNCERE to create an organizational growth and development plan.
The joint venture between the two organizations will help Project
SYNCERE better position itself for future success.
The Steans Center for Community-based
Service Learning provides educational opportunities grounded in
Vincentian community values to DePaul students. The Center seeks to
develop mutually beneficial, reciprocal relationships with
community organizations in order to develop a sense of social
agency in our students through enrollment in CbSL courses,
community internships and placements, and community-based student
employment.

SYNCERE attends CSAS National Conference in Los Angeles |
|
|
The second National Conference on
Science & Technology in Out-of-School Time was held in Los
Angeles, CA, from September 22-24, 2010. The conference brought
together a national cross-section of stakeholders involved in the
growing movement supporting afterschool STEM education. Some of the
sessions included research-based best practices, program and
curriculum development, evaluation, and systemic approaches to
aligning science education in- and out-of-school time, with a
particular focus on equity and access issues for underrepresented
populations.
The conference served as a great
opportunity for Project SYNCERE to network with other organziations
from around the country that are also helping to expose students to
the STEM fields at an early age.
