"The Meaning of a Pow Wow" will be presented by Mark Denning, Director of Southeast Tribal Services for the Oneida Nation.  Mark will provide an overview of the meaning of a pow wow, of pow wow regalia, and etiquette for those attending a pow wow.

Footloose Fridays

With today's busy lifestyle it can be difficult to read an entire book in one month. That's why the Neenah Public Library started Short Story Night. Join us at the Lion's Tail Brewing Co. in downtown Neenah as we discuss two stories. This month we will be reading the humorous New Yorker featured story " How Can I Help" by Rivka Galchen and the classic " Story of an Hour" by Kate Chopin. Join us for a relaxed hour of discussion, trivia, and more. Changing Bird Populations
Adult Afternoon Program
With Bill Mueller,  Director of the Western Great Lakes Bird and Bat Observatory near Port Washington, WI. Bird populations naturally fluctuate, but some species are clearly increasing; others are experiencing marked declines, and conservationists are concerned about them. This presentation will describe examples from many species in Wisconsin, how we know about their population numbers, and what we've learned recently.

First Friday Concert Series
Sean Gaskell
Join us for a wonderful afternoon concert with Sean Gaskell performing, Music of the West African Kora (Harp). Sean Gaskell will give a performance and educational demonstration on the Kora, an ancient 21-stringed harp from West Africa.  He will feature traditional songs that are the heart and soul of the Koras musical repertoire in addition to some of his own personal compositions.

S.O.S Paranormal Investigation Team
Cory Jandrin and his team of investigators, Shadows of Spirits or S.O.S., will discuss their experience with ghost hunting including their investigations of Kewaunee's historic jail, Hamacheck Hall, private residencies, and other locations throughout North East Wisconsin. Learn about EVPs (electronic voice phenomenon), ghost hunting equipment, and more. No registration is required for this free event.

Bigfoot Sighting: The Menominee Anomaly
Join Craig and Barb Sulk as they discuss the now famous Menominee Anomaly. On May 9th of 2012, the Sulk family found evidence of Bigfoot on one of their trail cameras. The evidence was so convincing, that Animal Planet featured the Sulks on an episode of Finding Bigoot! The event became known as the Menominee Anomaly and the rest is history. Learn more about the Bigfoot sighting as Craig and Barb discuss their evidence and their national television experience. No registration is required for this free event.

Did you know that Neenah's Tuesday Club women were discussing women's suffrage and other important topics at their weekly meetings as early as the 1880s? In fact, this club of forward thinking Neenah women started in 1884.  As part of our "Making a Hometown" program series, the current women of the Tuesday Club will intertwine their club's history with local and national history in this very engaging presentation.
