This past weekend I pulled out a stack of old wall calendars that I have kept for many years, even though I wasn't sure why I kept them. In general, I go through purging stages every year or so, but I had held onto these calendars.
I looked at each page of the calendars and cut out many images. I am compiling a collection of images that I might use later for a process called SoulCollage
®. My friend Renee recently led a SoulCollage
® workshop for my "Designing Your Encore" workshop participants. We learned how to make the 5"x8" cards using images cut from magazines. And we had a lot of fun.
I loved the process of making small pictures from images that attracted me. As I am not skilled at drawing, it is a way for me to be creative and use my intuition. The idea is that once you have created several of these cards they become part of a personal deck. You may then consult your cards with questions that matter to you, randomly choose a face down card, "read" from the card's images for an answer to your question, and ultimately learn more about yourself in the process. I am in the card creation phase and am having fun with it.
Last week a former coaching client contacted me, we'll call her Sally, and told me she may be losing her job soon as her company is downsizing. We set up a time to talk on the phone as friends. In the course of our conversation, I mentioned to Sally that I had recently participated in a SoulCollage
® workshop. She said that a dear friend of hers, whom she has known for almost 30 years and who lives 3000 miles away from her, is a SoulCollage
® facilitator.
The next day Sally sent me an email entitled, "Serendipity". In the email she related that she has not seen her friend in many years so after our conversation decided to look at her friend's website to see if the email address she had for her was current. Sally discovered that her friend was leading a training this very week only two hours away from where she lives. Sally contacted her friend and they are going to get together for dinner this weekend! And, now Sally is also excited to find a SoulCollage
® workshop to attend.
.
Had I not mentioned that I enjoyed going to a SoulCollage
® workshop, Sally would not have reconnected with her friend. And, who knows what she will now discover from participating in a SoulCollage
® workshop herself.
How has serendipity entered your life recently? What do you notice?
