Summer Polynesian Workshop Series III
Aloha Ohana,

Welcome to our third summer workshop series. This series is for the family! Bring a young one to the Keiki Polynesian Dance and learn some basic moves to catchy Polynesian music. Then stay and talk story while making your very own lei. Wear your new lei to the third workshop while learning a Tahitian Aparima. Aparimas are the slower Tahitian dances that are more similar to Hawaiian Hulas.

2PM
Keiki Polynesian Dance Workshop
Learn how to keep the beat of the Tahitian drums with your hips while telling a story with your hands. Pakakina is the Tahitian version of "Head Shoulders Knees and Toes!" Keiki will also learn basic poi ball skills to Hoki Hoki. Parents are welcome to stay to watch or join in on the fun!
3PM
Lei Making Workshop
Come enjoy this favorite Hawaiian pastime with your Aloha Style Ohana. Bring your own flowers (you will need 24-50 flower heads depending on type of flower and size) or be sure to pre-purchase with us by August 7 for Orchids heads.
4PM
Tahitian Aparima Workshop
If Tahitian dance is new to you it may seem a little intimidating. With practice anyone can dance Tahitian! Learning an Aparima is an easy way to get introduced to this unique style of dance. Aparimas are slower Tahitian dances that tell a graceful story with the hands but just to be sure you don't confuse the dance with hula there are always a few of those exciting sharp hip movements. This workshop will teach Uha Hiti Te Marama.
