Bishop's visits

20 Year Anniversary Celebration 
On Saturday, September 8, 2018, Bishop Jamison Hardy was blessed to have been able to participate at Bethesda, Chicago, IL, in celebration of the Asian ministry. This is a 20-year anniversary celebration and of bringing God's Word to the people.

Bishop Hardy also visited Faith, Chicago, IL, with President Shelvin Payne.

Call Returned
The Rev. David C. Gaddini, Fellowship of Faith, McHenry, IL, has returned the call to serve as an Associate Pastor at Martin Luther Chapel, East Lansing, MI.

Field Worker Installed
On September 9, 2018, Michelle Hennig was installed at Trinity, Villa Park as the new Deaconess Field Worker from Concordia University Chicago.  Michelle is Trinity's first Deaconess Field Worker.  
 



Special celebration service
The Rev. Aaron Boerst, Christ, Lake Mills, WI, donated a number of liturgical furnishings including a new processional cross, Paschal candle, sanctuary lamp, banner stand, potted palms, and wall banners. The congregation celebrated with a special service and rite of blessing.

Learning is fun!
The Pre-K children at Shepherd King Preschool, West Bloomfield, MI, continued graphing their eye color and created a picture of their house using sticky foam blocks. Peeling the backing and placing the blocks is not only fun, but also helps strengthen their fine motor skills. The children also enjoyed pouring and measuring rice.

Congratulations!
Ascension of Christ, Beverly Hills, MI, recently recognized Janet Stechholz for  40 years of teaching. 

Janet Stechholz has always been a teacher. Even in her childhood years at St. Paul Lutheran Elementary School, Oak Lawn, IL, she wanted to be a teacher. She was given opportunities to work with her brother, Norman, in his learning disability, and with other students at a young age. She also taught swimming and was a camp counselor at Camp CILCA near Springfield, IL. Her "formal" career began after graduating from Concordia University-Chicago at River Forest, IL.

We encourage you to use the District  prayer list for your daily prayers, both personal and corporate. Please feel free to publish this  list   in your weekend service folders, on your congregational website and in your newsletters.

Gift Planning Training
October 2-4, 2018 | Concordia University, Ann Arbor, MI
The Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod Foundation's Lifetime Plan for Giving courses equip participants to develop a biblical gift-planning service within your stewardship ministry landscape. It is offered several times a year in different locations across the country. This training is for leaders (paid and unpaid) who want to encourage people in their generosity beyond the offering plate or periodic campaigns. Attendees will develop confidence to guide people to fulfill their goals for the people and ministries they love. Course attendees will each receive a certificate of attendance and be eligible for a Christian Gift Planner (CGP) certificate upon successful completion of a guided field experience.  Click  here  to register.
