Bovo-Tighe Helps Shell Energy Plumb New Depths Safely and Productively
Long-time Bovo-Tighe client Shell Energy, hit a remarkable set of milestones in 2016 as part of its new Stones ultra-deepwater drilling project. All the design, manufacturing, shipbuilding and component integration happened successfully, without exploding the budget, and hitting timelines. Most critically though, given Shell’s strong commitment to workplace safety, all the people involved achieved their objectives with no safety incidents.
“We had over 13 million man-hours in two yards without a single recordable safety incident. That is really something special,” said Chris Lohr, Shell Stones Project Manager.
And he gives credit for the achievement of this great safety success to Bovo-Tighe. He had us work with his project team to build an intentional focus on safety, and fully collaborative leadership. We also set the table for them by training the project leaders to actively and fully leverage each person’s unique ability to overcome obstacles to making quality decisions.
““We worked together as a single, cohesive unit within Shell, rather than a bunch of individual technical silos,” added Lohr. “That made all the difference in terms of cost reduction and safety.”
