Seven Steps To Greatness! 1/12/16

AND YES I KNOW TODAY IS TUESDAY!!!

It is "ANOTHER SLEEPLESS NIGHT IN MCDONOUGH!"

Now before you blame Amanda, it is only partially her fault!

YES, she awoke me, (PTL for awakening AGAIN), at 1:45 AM, it is now 5:00 AM.

It is me-I cannot go back to sleep as my mind is filled with the "cares of this life"-both mine and YOURS!!!

Before I venture farther into my message, please KNOW that I CARE about YOU!!!

The devil is a master at making YOU and I feel WORTHLESS!!

WE are DAILY bombarded with OUR failures and OUR too many inabilities and OUR unrequited wants and needs.

WE are NEVER good enough, smart enough, rich enough, talented enough and rarely/barely/seldom lauded and applauded for ANY thing WE do!!

Can I get an AMEN and/or witness to that statement of FACT!!??

" THE OLD GRAY MARE SHE AIN'T WHAT SHE USED TO BE!"

satan well knows that if he can stop YOU, the loved ones FOLLOWING YOU will also be thwarted, hurt and confused!!

satan makes ALL of us think and BELIEVE we have no or little worth!!

So satan "smites (YOU) the shepherd" with these doubts and and UN-belief, knowing that in spite of what we "SEE" with our natural eye.

satan well knows YOUR worth and God's love and pride in YOU His son or daughter!!

Daily, hourly satan HAND PICKS others to bring US down!!

satan delights in others harsh criticism.

satan's goal is to SEPARATE us, one from another, by telling US our thoughts and battles are trivial and silly-too small to invite the interest of a MIGHTY GOD!!

BUT the Bible admonishes US:

Proverbs 27:17 (KJV)
17  Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.

" IRON SHARPENETH IRON!!!!"

DO YOU GET IT???

Joel Olsteen told a great story the other day and I borrow it here.

The CEO of a vast sales company gave a speech at a gathering of all the companies sales personnel.

Hundreds and hundreds of sales people sat before him as he invited the TOP THREE sales people to the stage.

He then asked for a show of hands of those seated who had taken any of the TOP THREE SALES PEOPLE to lunch-only a scattered few raised their hand.

DO YOU GET IT???

DO YOU SEE?????

As I lay in the dark this morning, I suddenly remember a SMALL, HAND MADE "BOOKLET" made and written by an old friend and fellow Pastor, MIKE Cronin.

We were ordained together on March 29, 1981 and worked together for several years at the same Church.

He had a DRY and great sense of humor and one day, over 25 years ago, he made me a BOOK!

He took a single sheet of paper and folded into a tiny booklet, and wrote on the cover:

SEVEN STEPS TO GREATNESS!

When you opened the cover, inside were the KEYS to greatness-are you ready???

1-Act like Mike!

2-Think like Mike!

3-Look like Mike!

4-Do like Mike!

5-Talk like Mike!

6-Go with Mike!

7-Hang around Mike (as much as possible WITHOUT getting in Mike's way!)

Just as Mama told me many years ago:

"If you wanna be great, hang around great people!

If you wanna be smart, hang around smart people!

If you want to be successful or more talented, hang around successful and more talented people!!"

The list-both pro and con is endless!!!

TODAY, take YOUR "SHIELD OF FAITH, WHEREWITH YE SHALL BE ABLE TO QUENCH ALL THE FIERY DARTS OF THE WICKED!"

Ephesians 6:16 (KJV)
16  Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

AND Hang around with Jesus AND like-minded BELIEVERS!!!
