Sassy Stitches!

ATTENTION BEGINNER QUILTING CLUB MEMBERS!!!!  If you are signed up for Monday's (1/9) Beginner Quilting Class, it has been rescheduled for NEXT Monday, January 16th. Several roads are still in bad shape and dangerous.  Thursday's evening class is still on track to begin this Thursday, January 12th. See you soon and be careful!

The first snow of 2017 was beautiful!
By Saturday morning my backyard looked like a winter wonderland. Lots of customers came in and gathered fabric and other supplies in preparation of being inside for a few days.  Can't wait to see all those finished projects!  Check out Teresa and Lindi's newest window creations. (I'll post more pictures of our awesome windows next week!)  Let it snow!  Let us sew!  Perfect!!!!!

We've had SEW MUCH FUN launching our 2017 Clubs at Sassy Stitches this past week!  The first club, "Tool Time," met on Tuesday.  There is another group of Tool Timers that was scheduled to meet Saturday but that was rescheduled for next Saturday due to the snow.  Monica reviewed the Curvy Log Cabin tool.  Here are some pictures of practice blocks and also some projects that use the Curvy Log Cabin.  It's really neat how straight seams can create a cool, curvy look!

On Wednesday, the
Sew & Sews had their first meeting.  Teresa led the group in making this cute notepad cover.  Look at all the different fabrics!  Sew cute!

Remember we are providing opportunities for you to come work on your club projects during the "Sit & Sew" times this year or if you're not in a club, just come sew!  We are offering a hand sewing day each month and a machine sewing day each month. Those days have been set aside for you to use our classroom and the supplies while you fellowship with others and work towards completing projects.   BUT . . . YOU MUST RESERVE A SPOT. We are limiting the number of people to 10 so if you are interested you need to call and reserve your spot.  It's totally free!  But we only have room for so many so let us know you're coming and we will let you know if there is still room. Staff can answer questions and help you briefly but they will be working on the floor taking care of other business. This is not class time so please be respectful of our staff members. Come sew with us!  Did I mention it's FREE?!?!?

Remember that we carry all of the Creative Grids rulers and tools you will need for any of Deb's upcoming events so call or come by the shop to get all of your supplies! We will be glad to ship them to you if you don't live close by. And as usual, we will have specials just for attendees.

Have a wonderful week and come see us!

NEW CLUB for 2017!
Sassy Strippers!
There is still time to sign up for the "Sassy Strippers" club that begins this week!  This Tuesday, Jan. 10th, the first session of "Sassy Strippers" will meet and begin working on their first strip quilt. Stop in Monday or call the shop to reserve your spot! The " Sassy Strippers " will meet on the 2nd Tuesday of each month from January through June. This group will make quilts using jelly rolls or 2 1/2" strips you have precut from your own fabric. The first project will be "Decadent Victorian" from the book, Strip Delight and you will need to purchase the book to have the supply list and have your strips cut and ready for your first project. You will be making at least three quilts from this book. These quilts are quick and easy and you finish with a gorgeous quilt made from your choice of fabrics.  Come to the class ready to sew some strips!  Here are two pictures of the first quilt using different fabrics.  It's gorgeous!

Time:  10:00 - 1:00
Class Fee:  $30 plus purchase of Strip Delight book
Show & Tell
The first quilt is Jerrie's Paper Pieced quilt using the blocks from the Paper Piecing Party Club. The quilt in the picture beside it has the same blocks in rows with sashing.  Isn't it neat to see it in a different fabric choice and a different layout?  We're excited about this upcoming club!

We got in this BEAUTIFUL new line from Moda called, "Pondicherry."  It's even prettier in person.

Ryan's Case for Smiles
Our charity focus at Sassy Stitches is Ryan's Case for Smiles. This is an organization that provides fun pillowcases for sick children .  ALL of our donations will be used in Asheville, NC at Mission Children's Hospital. I volunteered for this charity for several years and have personally delivered pillow cases to kids at Mission Children's Hospital and assure you it brings great joy to sick children to pick out a fun pillowcase. When you read the story about Cindy and her son, Ryan, you will understand what a great cause this is. It's the perfect charity for anyone who sews! Here is a link to the organization's website.
We will accept pillowcases, fabric donations for making pillow cases and monetary donations. If you choose to make pillowcases, there are tips on the website (see link above) about making them. The volunteers who take the pillowcases wash them before delivery. Something so simple as a fun pillowcase really does bring a smile to a sick child.  THANKS!
