This Saturday, Feb. 10, is CAN JAM for February.   Please remember to bring a few boxes, bags or cans of non-perishable food items (no glass jars, please) and put them in the wicker baskets in the shul lobby.

(By the way, we had a terrific collection last month - 192 pounds of food were delivered to Manna!  Thanks to everyone who made that possible.)

Shabbat Matters with Rabbi Sid: Biblical Wisdom and Contemporary Living at 9:45 AM in the Double Classroom
(Series continues February 17th and 24th)

It is commonplace to say that the Bible provides guidance for modern living. But in what way is this really true? Most people haven't a clue. For the last two years, Rabbi Sid's Biblical Wisdom course has been so popular he has kept the same format and is now offering Part III. The class explores how Biblical stories provide guidance to three issues that human beings have been struggling with since the dawn of civilization. The class includes some presentation from Rabbi Sid, working in chavruta (learning pairs) with a prompt question and group discussion. This year's themes will be: The origins of human violence, Calling, vocation and "God", and Family conflict. The class will be using original sources in translation. The additional text will be our lives.
