Celebrate the Museum's 7th season of Shades of Jazz! Pack blankets, chairs, and a picnic dinner and head to the KMA Sculpture Garden for a summer evening of great music. Legendary jazz guitarist John Scofield presents some of today's brightest international jazz talents.  

 

June 13: Cyrille Aimée: Vocals and guitar

Improvisational jazz takes a unique turn with the driving force of Cyrille Aimée's vocals. Aimée draws upon her rich cultural background to create her unique fusion of Gallic, Latin American, Brazilian, and American jazz styles. Tonight's concert is part of the Blue Note Jazz Festival.   

 

$10 members, $20 non-members; admission includes complimentary beer and wine. Gates open at 5:45pm for picnicking. 914-232-9555 ext. 0.

 

In the event of rain, an email notification will confirm that the performance will take place at the Katonah Village Library located on 26 Bedford Road. There is limited seating at the library and tickets will be available at the door on a first come first serve basis. Doors open at 5:45pm at the library.

Mahjong was the theme at last Saturday's Second Saturday party.  Over 120 guests enjoyed looking at the Chinese Contemporary Photography exhibition in the galleries, eating dumplings from the Rickshaw Dumpling truck, drinking wine and beer, and playing mahjong.

Our popular series of stroller tours continues with our current Chinese-themed exhibitions, coffee and breakfast snacks, and a growing group of moms and dads. Once a month, parents with their babies and pre-toddlers in tow are invited to the KMA before it opens to the public for insightful discussion and a bit of artistic fun.

Drop into the Leaning Center on the end-of-the-year half school days and join teaching artists for fun explorations of Chinese-inspired art. Each day promises a unique experience with new materials and projects that include making kites for our July 21st Kite Festival.

 

Tuesday, June 19: Summer Kites

Create a special summer-inspired kite.

Wednesday, June 20: Family Storytelling

Tell a family story using stamps, patterns, and drawing.

Thursday, June 21: Chinese Animal Kites

Celebrate the Chinese kite making tradition with a dragon or animal kite.

Friday, June 22: Creative Photo Puzzles

Make a cool photo puzzle that transforms into a one-of-a-kind design.
