Family Reunion Area

With over 28,000 participants and spectators at the oceanfront, getting separated from friends and loved ones is possible.  We recommend having a reunion plan in place before your race.  On both Saturday and Sunday we will have a reunion area on the beach between 27th and 28th Streets.  During the Final Mile on Saturday, 3/15, this area will be used as the student finish corral and access will be limited.  At all other times, there will be numbered and colored flags in this area which can be designated rendezvous spots.  The numbers/colors of the flags are: (1) red; (2) green; (3) blue; (4) gray; (5) yellow; (6) orange.  Pick your family flag and meet your loved ones there!

Get Ready to SHAMrock this Race!

DrLuciano Here are some important tips from Bon Secours Sports Medicine's Dr. Ernesto Luciano-Perez, Medical Director of the Yuengling Shamrock Marathon Weekend.

Stick to the Plan:  Your training should have had you complete several long runs (half and full) so far with an obvious training peak and a taper heading into the race week.  If not, listen to your body during the race and slow down to a more comfortable pace, if necessary.

Hydration:  Hydration starts the week of the race, not the morning of the race.  Without overdoing it, try taking in an extra bottle (16oz) of water each day before the race.  During the race, don't wait until you are thirsty. You should be taking in up to 4oz (or more on a hot day) of sports drink or water every twenty minutes.

Add Electrolytes:  Muscle cramps, headaches, dizziness, confusion and poor performance are all the signs of not replacing salt lost through sweating.   So add in some electrolyte replacement into your race plan (sport drinks, caplets, etc) so you don't get sidelined from something you can control.  Make sure you have tested your electrolyte replacement product before race day to avoid digestive issues on the course.

Medical Info:  The medical information on the back of your race number provides the medical tent personnel, EMS, and race directors with valuable information that could save your life and/or help you and your loved ones connect should you become injured on the course.  It's important, so please remember to fill it out!

B-Tag Timing

J&A Racing uses the state of the art ChronoTrack B-Tag timing system at the Yuengling Shamrock Weekend events to provide you with fast and accurate race results.

The B-Tag is a disposable timing chip applied to the back of your bib number.  In order to receive an accurate time for your Shamrock event, please make sure your bib number is...

  • Clearly visible on the FRONT of your shirt or jacket
  • Pinned to your shirt or jacket at all four corners
  • NOT covered by a jacket, costume, fuel belt, etc.
  • NOT altered or modified in any way (do not bend, fold or wrinkle your bib)

If you do not have a bib you will not be allowed to cross the finish line.

UPS Dry Bag Gear Check
We will be offering a dry bag service for both the 8k on Saturday, and the half and full marathons on Sunday.  On Saturday, the dry bag tent will be located next to the boardwalk between 27th and 28th Streets.  You will retrieve your bag in this same location after the race.

On Sunday, we will be utilizing UPS trucks to collect and transport your dry bag from the start area to the finish area.

As a new safety requirement, every runner will receive a clear plastic bag at packet pick up that MUST be used for your gear check bag. We WILL NOT accept any other bags. All bibs will include a Dry Bag Gear Check tag. Simply detach this tag from your bib and then attach it to your bag and you can drop it off either at the 8k dry bag tent on Saturday, or with the UPS trucks on Sunday.  Here's a summary of the dry bag locations:

TowneBank Shamrock 8k Dry Bag:
Dry bag tent located between 27th and 2th Streets on the grass adjacent to the bike path and boardwalk.

Anthem Shamrock Half Marathon UPS Dry Bag Trucks:
Between 38th and 40th streets on Atlantic

Yuengling Shamrock Marathon UPS Dry Bag Trucks:
Between 30th and 31st streets on Atlantic

Please pick up your bag immediately after finishing the race. For the 8k, the dry bags will be in the tent where you drop them off.  For the Half and the Full, the UPS Dry Bag Trucks will be located just past the finish line on the boardwalk.

Do not leave any bags unattended.
Clothing Donation

If you leave your clothing or any other item at the start line, it will be collected and donated. Do not expect to be able to return to the start line later in the day to retrieve it.

If your wish is to keep the clothes you wear prior to the start of your race, be sure to use our UPS Dry Bag Gear Check.
