Fall 2017
 We are excited to announce that Panim Hadashot-New Faces will offer Rosh Hashannah and Yom Kippur services this fall at the Seattle Jewish Community School in the Pinehurst Neighborhood in North Seattle.  Our services will be led by Rabbi Dov Gartenberg and the Heart of Shabbat Ensemble featuring the beautiful music that characterizes and participatory singing that marks our services throughout the year.  Rabbi Gartenberg will offer thought provoking teachings meant to spur further conversation and reflection. Below is a tentative schedule

Reserving a Place for the High Holidays

We are hoping on June 1st to unveil our Subscription Process.  We invite people to support Panim Hadashot by making an annual subscription of $180.  The subscription will include two High Holiday seats, priority consideration to be a Shabbat Hosting Partner, rabbinic services of Rabbi Gartenberg, access to our special Facebook page for subscribers.  an opportunity to join the Singing Core, discounts for special Panim Hadshot programs, A special email will introduce the Subscription Process.  We have kept our subscription rate low to encourage making a connection for those who don't currently have a connection.  For those already affiliated, our subscription rate is affordable and subscribing to Panim Hadashot is a complement to an engaged Jewish life.

Rosh Hashannah
  • Wednesday, September 20th 7-9:30pm   Erev Rosh Hashannah Dinner and Tish with Heart of Shabbat Ensemble leading community singing with Songs of the New Year.  Location to be Announced.    
  • Thursday, September 21st, 9-12:30pm Rosh Hashannah Morning Service with Heart of Shabbat Ensemble, Shofar Blowing, and Teaching from Rabbi Gartenberg. Location:  Seattle Jewish Community School, North Seattle.    
  • Thursday, September 21st 4-6pm.  Musical Tashlich Ceremony and Picnic in Carkeek Park Piper Creek Picnic Grounds.   
  • Friday, September 22nd 10-12pm.  2nd Day Shofar Blowing and Rosh Hashannah Contemplative Service with Heart of Shabbat Ensemble.  Location: Seattle Jewish Community School
  Yom Kippur  
  • Friday, September 29th 3:30-5:30pm, Yom Kippur Feast Before the Fast-Se'udat Hamafseket led by Rabbi Dov Gartenberg. Location: To be announced.    
  • Friday, September 29th, 6:30-9:00pm, Kol Nidre Service led by Rabbi Dov Gartenberg and the Heart of Shabbat Ensemble. Location: Seattle Jewish Community School

  •   Saturday, September 30th, 9:00am to 7:30pm, All day Yom Kippur Services led by the Heart of Shabbat Ensemble, study sessions led by Rabbi Gartenberg and other teachers. Yizkor, and Neilah.  Detailed schedule to be published in September. Location: Seattle Jewish Community School

Shavuot with Panim Hadashot
Tuesday Night, May 30th 
  A Dairy Festival Feast with Rabbi Dov Gartenberg followed by a Shavuot Learning Session.  

Tuesday, May 30th 
8:00 to 10:00pm  Festival Feast
10:15 to 11:15pm Rabbi Gartenberg Study Session on Ruth and the Origins of Jewish Hospitality.
Location: Community Room at Rabbi's Apartment Complex: Array Apartments, 14027 Lake City Way NE. Seattle, WA 98125
Not recommended for young children.  You can bring a dish by making an RSVP.

Join Rabbi Gartenberg at his home for a Erev Shavuot dairy feast.  Rabbi Gartenberg will talk about the meaning of the Shavuot festival, the origin of its practices, and some of its enduring teachings. Following dinner Rabbi Gartenberg will give a teaching on  The Book of Ruth and the Origins of Jewish Hospitality.  The Book of Ruth, one of the most beautiful and moving accounts in the Bible,  is read on Shavuot.

  On Friday, May 19th, Panim Hadashot-New Faces partners with Congregation Eitz Or for a Shabbat Hosting Partnership on Queen Anne.  Below is a link to an  announcement if you would like to come.    

Havdallah with Secular Jewish Circle, Saturday May 20th
 We partner with the Seattle Secular Jewish Circle for a joyous secular celebration of Havdallah in song and melody all in good company.

6:30-8:00 Shabbat Picnic and Community Singing with the Heart of Shabbat Ensemble
8:00-9:00 Kabbalat Shabbat in the Woods with the Heart of Shabbat Ensemble

On the third Shabbat of the month from June to August we invite everyone to join us for Shabbat in the Woods in beautiful Carkeek Park along the Pudget Sound.  We will have a Shabbat picnic in the Piper Creek Picnic area with a medley of Jewish music from our Heart of Shabbat Ensemble. Rabbi Dov will lead us in a walk in the woods where you will find Kaballat Shabbat prayers hanging on trees.  This will be a unique Shabbat service surrounded by the beauty of nature and the light of a late Northwest afternoon-evening.  

All are welcome. In case of rain, we will announce an alternative indoor location. 

RSVPs will start in early June. No charge, just bring food.

Joyful Singing
The Practice of Jewish Hospitality 
A Shabbat Seminar with Rabbi Dov Gartenberg
This program will be rescheduled
to later in the summer. 
  This is a two hour seminar on Shabbat that explores Jewish hospitality as a core practice for living a Jewish life. 1st Hour:  Interactive study of Jewish texts from the Bible, Talmud, and other Jewish literature on hospitality 2nd Hour:  Hospitality as a spiritual practice and commitment.  A close look at the joys and challenges of living a life of intentional hospitality.
