Meet your Composer: Chanelle Hoorne

What's your name: Chanelle Hoorne

Where do you come from? Vryburg, North West Province

How long have you been composing? 21 years

What is your creative process? How do you start creating a beat? / How do you start writing lyrics to a beat? I generally record any idea, melody, rhyme, etc. that comes to mind. This happens a lot so when I do write I always reference recordings done prior on my phone.  I write on experiences, feelings and people that has had a huge impact in my life.  Regardless good or bad. This helps me move forward and sustain a sense of content throughout life.

What made you chose a career in this field? I come from a very musical background and have been influenced from a young age when I started playing piano at the age of 7.  It has always been my escape from whatever I experienced growing up.  Music has always been a huge part of my life.  I live it in everything that I do.  The singing only came at a later stage but realized back then already that the ability to apply skill to a God given talent is a really special gift that simply have to be persuaded...
