PCI President's Message
At our recent Founder's Day awards presentation ceremony, I felt we were all inspired by the accomplishments of the programs Porto and PCI have supported over the last 55 years. There was not a dry eye in the house as the program administrators gave us their annual reports and we witnessed firsthand the lives they have touched.
Founder's Day Awards
A great big congratulations to all the organizations that received Founder's Day Awards. We look forward to hearing about all the amazing things you do with individual with special needs.
And a great big thank you to all those who participated in the evening. We hope you enjoyed the company and fellowship. Here's the full collection of photos from the evening.

This issue of Shifting Sands will be published soon after our 2016 Founder's Day celebration, the time when Porto Charities and Porto Caravan distribute the funds we have collected over the past year to the organizations that we consider work to support in many different ways the life and development of people with intellectual disabilities. And quite properly we celebrated with prayer, party, and thanksgiving.
Have you heard about the Special Angler Foundation? Joe Smith, parent of Travis Smith (PVI, Class of 2015) is one of the founders of the Special Angler Foundation and he has informed us that there is an upcoming Queen of the Bay fishing tournament in Cape Charles, VA, from July 27-30, on a pier. Joe is extending an invitation to any of our young adults with intellectual disabilities who would like to participate.
