A Message from the Rabbi
Dear friends -

Moadim l'simhah!  I hope that you all had meaningful and delicious Sedarim.

I want to thank all those involved in making the Jazz Seder here such a success:
  • The all-star band for their music (Jennie Lavine, we didn't know you could do that!!)
  • Chef Leah and all her team
  • Will Samuels for convening the band and being Master of the Omer
  • And most of all Mia Kearney-Bagneris and all the volunteers who helped make the room look so beautiful.
And now, on with the rest of Pesah...
  • On Saturday morning, rather than give a sermon at the usual time, I will speak about Shir Ha-Shirim before we chant it.  So if you want to hear that, please be at shul by 10:15!
  • Men's Club Minyan on Sunday will include the Torah reading for Chol HaMoed.
  • Before Yizkor on Monday I will be sharing the memories you have sent me of those who left the world during the past year.
  • And a special plea - we need your help to make evening minyanim at 7:00 pm on Sunday and Monday evening.  Please ensure we can support those who are saying Kaddish.
I am signing off with one of my favorite Jewish greetings.  It can only be used during Chol HaMoed.

Moadim l'simhah!
Rabbi Silver

The Shir Chadash Culture Club

Our purpose is to get together periodically for a movie, a theatre trip, a dance performance... any cultural event at which we can spend quality time together.

Our first meeting will be on Tuesday, April 25, 2017 at 7:00 pm at the home of Stan and Ellen Kessler, 344 Vincent St., Metairie. We will watch the Israeli movie, "A Matter of Size", a heartwarming comedy about 4 overweight guys who learn to love themselves through sumo wrestling. We will also brainstorm some ideas for future meetings of the Culture Club, so bring your suggestions!

RSVP to the synagogue office.
