Despite the rain and heat,
we are always open during the season. Our farmers work hard all week long growing, managing and harvesting their crops so that they can bring you the freshest fruits and vegetables on the weekends. Farming and food production is a 7 day a week job and our vendors participate in the markets on the weekends so they can continue to serve communities in which they sell, feed their own families and keep their farms running.
Here are some tips to make shopping at our markets easier when it's hot:
1.
Shop early - make sure you get the best pick of the season's fruits and veggies. When vendors are ready to sell, they can sell. Shopping early will let you avoid standing in lines when the temperature goes up.
2.
Bring a cooler in your car - make sure it has ice packs on the bottom and put a layer of newspaper on top so your items don't freeze or get wet.
3.
Use insulated bags when you shop - if you don't have one, we sell insulated, zippered market bags at the info booths. They cost $10 and the proceeds help fund the music and kids programs at the markets.
4.
Protect yourself - wear a hat, sunscreen and stay hydrated. Many of our vendors sell Mountain Valley Spring Water (one of our great market sponsors) at their stands.
5.
Bring extra water for your pet. We have bowls of water set up at the info tent, and some of our vendors do as well. Don't leave your dog in the car!
Thanks to all our patrons who continue to make our markets the best! It's going to be a nice weekend
. See you at the markets!
Sincerely
,
