Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore's Shore Essentials
GSMISTS  -  April 10, 2017

Girl Scout volunteers,
we love you!

Every day, Girl Scout volunteers make it possible for girls across our council to enjoy and benefit from an adventure-having, skill-building, lead-taking, life-changing good time. It's undeniable: without our volunteers' commitment to unleashing the  G.I.R.L. (Go-getter, Innovator, Risk-taker, Leader) in every girl, we couldn't and wouldn't be the largest girls' leadership organization in the world. But we are. Thanks to you! To show our appreciation, please read our " love letter" to Girl Scout volunteers.

Spring Cleaning at
Camp Anna Behrens
Spring is right around the corner and it is time for some outdoor activities! We need a lot of help to get Camp Anna Behrens ready for this year's summer activities, including cleaning the storm shelters, shower houses, sleeping shelters and the beach area, stocking firewood, and picking up sticks around camp.

The Spring Cleanup has been scheduled for Saturday, April 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. It would be great if you could spend the entire day, but a half day would be wonderful too! Lunch will be provided. If you have dietary issues, please let us know and we will try our best to accommodate the special diet.

This is a Super Service Project open to seniors and ambassador troops with leaders and registered adult members.

For questions, please contact Gary Lemke Property Manager.

STEM Spark Events
Spark Events inspire girls to dream big when they think about their future, and bring girls together with STEM professionals in their work spaces. Each event will introduce girls to a professional field, and will provide an opportunity to learn by doing an engaging activity similar to what the professionals do on a regular basis. There will also be time to ask questions and get a feel for whether this kind of career would be a good fit. Girls will receive a fun Spark patch at the event.

Engineers use science, technology & math to solve problems. There are many different kinds of engineers. They design a solution, test it, redesign & test again. They try to control all variables in their tests for repeat-ability. Actively explore different engineering careers and strengthen critical thinking skills as you are challenged to innovate and solve problems in various fields, such as mechanical, chemical, electrical, civil, structural, materials, environmental and aeronautical engineering.  Become an engineer, help shape our nation's future and become a more knowledgeable consumer of our earth's resources.

Camp 2017
We have some exciting news to share!

Because so many girls want to experience all that camp has to offer, we've extended the deadline for Overnight Camp early registration discount - same day as the deadline for Day Camp early registration!

Reminder:  All Girl Scout events require girl supervision; either a troop leader or parent is asked to be in attendance at events with girls.  E vents organized by GSMISTS or by any of our Community Partners, may have cookie dough applied to the event fees.
Product Sales
2017 Cookie Sale: Thank you all for a GREAT cookie season!

Bank Sweep:
The 1st  and 2nd bank sweeps have been posted to the ebudde system and the final sweep should have occurred around the first week of April. If your troop has not been swept yet, please contact Product Sales immediately to let us know as there could have been an issue with the banking numbers entered into the ebudde system or directly with the bank or Credit Union.

Outstanding Money Reports: If your troop has turned in one or more of these forms and have now collected the delinquent amount, please contact Product Sales right away. A bank sweep can not be done so it is the troops responsibility to bring a check or money order to the council to submit the payment for monies due to council.

Girl Rewards:   All earned girl rewards should arrive to the SUPSM by the end of April. Please make sure the awards are distributed to girls right away. Girls do not receive rewards if all money due for cookie sales has not been collected. These rewards should be brought back to council to hold until the delinquent situation is resolved.

ONLINE Cookie Dough!  There was an option to chose whether girls would like to use cookie dough online or still receive a cookie dough card for our council shops, registration fees and camps. Online Cookie Dough may only be used to purchase items from the GSUSA shops. It can not be used for membership registration or other items within our council. All girls in the troop did not have to agree on the same method; some may chose online while others may want the card. However, once the choice is made, it can not be reversed. If a choice was not selected in the ebudde system, a Cookie Dough card was the default method of reward. GSUSA will be contacting the girls who choose the online option with a code to use at the GSUSA Shop site by the end of April. Please contact us with any questions.

Surplus Cookies: A small amount of cookies are still available for purchase thru the council offices. A troop may purchase in case quantities @ $3 per box. $36 per case unless specialty cookies are requested. Mixed cases are allowed. Troops are only allowed to purchase these cookies at the discount and they must be paid for at time of pick up thru the Council POS.  Toffee tastic and S'mores are $4 per box. All cookies must be sold at normal price points. No discounts to potential customers.

Fall Product Sales: We still have a small amount of Fall Product left so if anyone wants more nuts or candy items, please visit the Council Shops. There is no discount on Fall Product items at this time.
