Camp Program
Supply Inventory Day
The program department is hosting a couple of volunteer days that are solely focused on inventorying and organizing supplies at Camp Ann Behrens and Camp Saki. Details are included in the sign up links below. We need about 15 volunteers for each day. Please be sure to pass along as well!  
Please note, these activities are separate from the "Amazing Race" camp clean-up days.

* The "Amazing Race" fall clean-up day at   Camp Saki  on October 22.

* The first Gold Award Training of the season will be held on October 26 th  in Boyne City. If you would like a Gold Award Training in your area, please email  with your request.
Art Van Santa Parade on November 19.  The West Michigan holiday season will officially kick-off with the Art Van Santa Parade, presented by the Grand Rapids Jaycees. The Jaycees are excited to announce the theme for this year's parade will be "Unwrap the Magic."

* Kids Food Basket - Brown Bag Decorating Day on October 22! 
Decorated bags can be donated during a special, celebratory drive-through on Saturday, October 22 from 10:00AM-1:00PM
 at any of their three locations, or any time during normal business hours the week leading up to October 22, to be counted. Learn more about Brown Bag Decorating Day by

 * United Veterans Council of Kent County Veterans Day Parade - November 11   
Route: Monroe to Monroe Center, Monroe Center to Division, Division to Fulton, Fulton to Veterans Memorial Park. Ceremony held after parade. Girl Scouts will be lined up between Boy Scouts and Camp Fire Girls.Contact Coordinator Jerry Dennis at  (616) 901- 1667 or with questions.

Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore is off to a great start
! We have begun our new 2017 Membership year with energetic staff working very hard to assist troop leaders with re-registration and looking for opportunities to provide the Girl Scout experience to new girls.  Welcome back!!!!

Friendly Reminder:
Troop Leaders -  Please  continue to log transactions on your troop's detailed cash report for every income or expense. The finance report, which includes the detailed cash report and 3 months of bank statements (October, March, and May) , are due to your Service Unit Treasurer between May 23rd and June 1st, 2017.

Outdated Forms:
Please discard any previous year forms and manuals. We have made a few changes! Click here for updates.

Troop Leaders:
Please be sure that you have registered yourself for the 2017 membership year. Also, please take a look at your troop roster to be sure it shows all of the girls participating in your troop. Reminder: everyone who participates in Girl Scouts needs to be a registered member. Thank you!
Reminder: Delegate Elections
Delegate elections are happening at your October Service Unit Meetings. Make sure you attend if interested in serving in this capacity. Girls interested in serving as a girl delegates need to submit this form by Oct 31st to be considered at the Region meetings. Region meetings will take place in November throughout the council. Meeting dates and times are not yet set, so watch for more information in upcoming Shore Essentials and on the website under AboutUs/Governance.  Everyone is invited to attend the Region meetings and hear updates, provide feedback on bylaws, and help to elect girls who will represent their area. 
2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Award
The 2017 Prudential Spirit of Community Awards is available to our 5th-12th graders. This unique youth recognition program, sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, has recognized more than 115,000 middle and high school students - including thousands of Girl Scouts - at the local, state and national level for outstanding acts of volunteerism over the past 21 years. Top winners receive a sizable cash awards, engraved medallions and an all-expense-paid trip with a parent or guardian to Washington, D.C. for the national awards ceremony in May, 2017.
Girl Scouts can apply online by clicking here. Applications must be submitted by November 8, 2016. We will review applications and select one or more to represent this council in the state-level judging. Fall Product Sale Manager Trainings
Fall Product Sales started October 1st and runs until October 23rd. Download the Fall Sale Calendar here.

Please make sure that all girls and adult members are re-registered for the 2017 Membership season if they wish to participate in the Fall Product Sale. Please also remember, before a girl receives a selling packet, the parent/guardian must fill out the Parent Permission form for the troop to keep on file. One form is good for both Fall and Cookie sales.
Online training is still available. Please watch this informational video which covers all aspects of the Fall Product Sale. Selling Materials may be obtained through your local Service Unit Product Sale Manager or the Council office.
The new Gift of Caring Program this year for Fall Sale: All donations stay at your local level with girls distributing the items to their choice of "Hometown Heroes." We ask that the girls work with their Service Unit to coordinate a designated site, and we would love to see pictures of the girls donating!
Retail Shop Hours Reminder
As a reminder, the Retail Shop will be open during the following hours:
  • Monday 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday Shop Closed, Office by phone or appt.
  • Wednesday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 
  • Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
