Girls in the Garage - Traverse City, Oct 13
Join us for a chance to explore exciting classic cars at the Hagerty Garage!  We will share automotive heritage and discover how vehicle design has evolved over the years. In addition to seeing the cars up close, Hagerty will offer rides in a few cool classics. To conclude the program, we'll leave the girls with a design challenge where they will have two weeks to come up with their dream car. 

Design details will be provided at the event and submissions will be displayed at the Hagerty office in Traverse City where a winner will be selected. To sign up, click here.
Girls Rock I.T.  - 
Grand Rapids, Oct 15
With the goals of breaking stereotypes and exciting girls about opportunities in Information Technology, the Michigan Council of Women in Technology will be offering a day of interactive fun and learning!  Girls will be given opportunities for hands-on experiments led by some of the area's leading computer and information technology experts. 

Juniors will earn and receive the Entertainment Technology badge; Cadettes will earn and receive the Netiquette badge.  To sign up, click here .
Camp Program Supply Inventory Day
The program department is hosting a couple of volunteer days that are solely focused on inventorying and organizing supplies at Camp Ann Behrens and Camp Saki. Details are included in the sign up links below. We need about 15 volunteers for each day. Please be sure to pass along as well!  

Please note, these activities are separate from the "Amazing Race" camp clean-up days.

Shore Essentials | September 26, 2016
On-Time Registration is happening NOW! All girls and adults  who register anytime before September 30 will be eligible to order an exclusive Girl Scout inspired T-shirt. This tee is only available for those who are registered members by September 30 and will not be available in Girl Scout Shops.

Please note, girls who have registered using the "Free 2017 Membership Voucher" through Product Sales, will not show as registered until October 1, 2016.
Delegate Elections
Calling all Adult Girl Scouts! Are you interested in Council Governance? Have you ever wondered how to be more involved with our Girl Scouts of Michigan Shore to Shore Council? Please consider becoming an Adult Delegate!

To find out more about Council Governance, please visit our website here. There are several documents listed here that may answer some of your questions or you may contact your Region Chair for more information. Delegate elections will take place at the October Service Unit meetings.

We are also looking for Girls ages 14 years and older who are interested in Governance. The Girl Delegate application is due to your Region Chair by October 31 and can be found 
Fall Product Sale Manager Trainings
Fall Product Sale starts October 1, please make sure that all girls and adult members are re-registered for the 2017 Membership season if wishing to participate in the Fall Product Sale.  Download the  Fall Sale Calendar  which includes dates and times.

Note: Please ask all Fall Sale Service Unit and Troop Product Sale Managers to a sign a position description to have on file at the council. If you have not already turned in or have trained online, please  download here and submit the completed form to productsales@gsmists.org in order to receive access codes to Nut-E.
 
Online training is still available. Please watch this informational video which covers all aspects of the Fall Product Sale. Selling Materials may be obtained through your local Service Unit Product Sale Manager or the Council office.
 
New Gift of Caring program this year for Fall Sale:  All donations stay at your local level with girls distributing the items to their choice of "Home Town Hero's." We ask that the girls work with their Service Unit to coordinate a designated site, and we would love to see pictures of the girls donating!

Important eBiz Information: Troop Registration
Please be reminded that the current Girl Scout membership year ends Friday, September 30, 2016 at 12 midnight ET. This means that online membership registrations for Troop Leaders renewing 2017 registrations through eBiz should be concluded by Thursday, September 29.
  • On Friday September 30, when Troop Leaders click on the "My Troops" tab in eBiz, a specialized maintenance page will appear that only affects troop management.
  • Troop Leaders will not have access to their troops in eBiz for the full day on Friday.
  • eBiz websites will remain up and Personify will not experience any downtime.
  • Active 2017 Troop Leaders will be able to access their troops on Saturday, October 1 and will see all the active 2017 troop members.
  • Family Managers will be unaffected and will continue to see their family members.
Attention Service Unit Teams!
Due to the excitement surrounding the Yard Signs that were distributed at the Service Team Expo, we are offering Service Units the opportunity to purchase additional signs at the cost of $8 each. These signs are a great way to not only promote Girl Scouts, but also recognize our wonderful volunteers! 

If you are interested in purchasing additional signs, please send us an email   and  include the Service Unit name, number of signs and point of contact (name and email address).    

Please submit your order by September 30, 2016.   The signs will be available for pick up in mid-October.

New Office and Shop Hours starting September 12 (to be reevaluated after the first of the year):
  • Monday 8:30 a.m. - 6:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday Shop Closed, Office by phone or appt.
  • Wednesday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. 
  • Thursday 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.
  • Friday 8:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.
The Shops will also be open Saturday, October 8 from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.. Come in and receive 10% off your total order! In-store only, not valid with other discounts.

Girl Scouts USA Feedback Requested
As the Girl Scouts USA CEO Search Committee moves forward to identify the best leader to serve our Movement as the next National CEO, we want to hear from you!

Membership Updates
Financial Assistance
All need for Financial Assistance must be requested and signed by parents or guardians  in order to be processed. Individuals applying for Financial Assistance must participate in the Fall Product Sales and Cookie Sales to be eligible for Financial Assistance through the Council.  Please be sure to attach a completed and signed 2017 Girl Membership Registration form. Note: F inancial Assistance for adults is only available to 01 and 02 Troop Leaders. Troop Leaders should consider paying out of troop funds for the 03 parent helpers who are in need of assistance.   The 03 parent helper should only be paid for if they are needed in order to meet the girl/adult ratios on troop outings.


Building Use Agreements
Many schools and churches require a Building Use Agreement be signed by those requesting the use of their building space.   Troop Leaders should sign as the applicant and then forward to mvp@gsmists.org .   We will acknowledge by initialing and will then send the form back to the Troop Leader.
Bank Account Record Forms
New this year!   We are working on updating our records and are asking that all troop leaders submit a Bank Account Record by September 30, 2016.  Newly formed troops are asked to submit within 30 days of opening the bank account.  Please submit to mvp@gsmists.org.
