Opportunities Abound at the 25th Annual Showcase

There are plenty of ways to optimize the opportunities presented by this year's Showcase for Commerce, May 27-29, but you must first be sure to register to attend or exhibit. Each attendee or exhibitor receives tickets to the various events: Government Acquisition Leaders Briefings, Outdoor and Indoor Exhibitions, Opening Ceremonies/Reception, Government Procurement Expo, Lunch in the Exhibit Hall and Closing Reception. You also won't want to miss the John P. Murtha Breakfast on May 29 where Keynote Speaker Senator Tim Kaine will make remarks, along with Senator Bob Casey, Senator Pat Toomey, Congressman Keith Rothfus and Morgan O'Brien, President of Peoples Natural Gas.

PITTch Fest 2015

UPJ, in collaboration with Entrepreneurial Alchemy, Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, JARI and the Greater Johnstown Cambria County Chamber of Commerce, will again present PITTch Fest during the Showcase for Commerce. The preliminary rounds of this "Shark Tank" style competition will take place during the Maker's Premiere event at the UPJ Campus on Thursday, May 28. The final round will take place on Friday, May 29 in the War Memorial Stars and Stripes Room from noon to 2:00 pm. Cash prizes will be awarded to the winners of two distinct categories thanks to the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies and Enterprise Venture Capital Corporation. Tickets to the final round of PITTch Fest are available at Showcase Registration on a first-come basis.

DCAA & Contract Compliance Briefing Kicks Off Showcase

The start of each Showcase features an interactive workshop sponsored by Wessel & Company and hosted by the JARI PTAC. This year the topic will focus on DCAA "hot" topics and recent trends, government contract fundamentals, incurred contract submission requirements and compliant allocations. This workshop will take place on May 27 at the Holiday Inn Johnstown - Downtown beginning at 8:30 am.
