Summary of Momentum for Change Events at the UN Climate Conference in Bonn
ICT Can Reduce Emissions and Boost Economy by Trillions
We were pleased to partner with the Global e-Sustainability Initiative and Accenture to release a new report that outlines the critical role that information communication technologies (ICT) can play in the transition to a low-carbon, highly resilient future.

The groundbreaking report, SMARTer2030, features some staggering numbers. It shows that ICT solutions could generate USD 11 trillion of economic benefits across the global economy by 2030. What's more, it shows how ICT solutions can cut CO2 emissions 20% by 2030 - all made possible by the smarter use of digital technologies such as smartphones, networked sensors, mobile applications and smart grids.

Showcasing Climate Solutions at the Bonn Climate Change Conference
Four of our previous Lighthouse Activity winners, Solar Power Company Group, Redavia, Earth Roofs in the Sahel Program and Lighten the Energy Bill, showcased their clean energy solutions at the Bonn Climate Change Conference this month.

The event, as part of the conference's Climate Action Fair, underlined the rapidly rising groundswell of climate action and the need for governments to help drive that success further and faster forward. Speaking at the event, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Christiana Figueres said the pioneering work by these clean energy leaders "seeds the soil" for deeper, faster climate action.

Participants heard that not only are these initiatives addressing climate change, but they are also generating green jobs. Solar Power Company Group, for example, hired 20,000 people during construction of its 36 solar plants in Thailand.

Let's Keep Ice Cream Cold!

Delegates at the Bonn Climate Change conference were treated to cold ice cream and hot facts when Ben & Jerry's parked its truck outside the venue.

In the lead-up to the Paris climate conference, Ben & Jerry's is hitting the road to spread the word about clean energy solutions as part of the Save Our Swirled Tour - a cool way to get free ice cream! The company is also urging people to support its non-profit partner Avaaz.org, as it urges global leaders to commit to transitioning to 100% clean energy by 2050.
