Railroad Crossing on 60/83 and Diamond Lake
Many of you have expressed concerns about the condition of the railroad tracks at 60/83 and Diamond Lake Road.  The Fremont Township Highway Department was contacted by the Canadian National Railroad to inform us they are planning on fixing the crossing between June 19 and June 30.  The tracks will be raised and surface reinstalled with new asphalt. The bad news is the road will be closed for five consecutive days. I will let you know as soon as we get a definite confirmation.
Mundelein's Village-Wide Spring Clean-Up
This is for Mundelein Village residents only.
May 1, 2017  to  May 12, 2017

Spring Clean-Up will begin the week of May 1st and run through Friday, May 12th. During this 2-week period, on garbage collection day, residents will not be charged for large household items and other refuse materials that would normally be collected for an additional fee.

Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, and other appliances containing Freon will not be collected unless the Freon has been removed and the appliance is properly tagged confirming the refrigerant has been removed. Other items that will not be collected include: oil, gasoline, 35 and 55 gallon drums, fuel containers, tires, pesticides, asbestos, railroad ties, paint and large quantities of construction debris.

AARP Class Has Two Openings
Two spots left!  The AARP Defensive Driving Course will be held on May 11 and May 12 from 9:00 am til 1:00 pm. You must attend both days.  Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 to register. $15.00 for AARP members and $20.00 for non AARP members.
Community Room Available
Bridge meets on Mondays, but our community room is available for Fremont Township  groups to meet.  We have ten card tables and chairs, so if you want canasta, mahjong, pinochle or other games offered, you bring the people and we will provide the space.  Call Nancy at 847 223-2847 for availability. Our room is used heavily by the scouts and homeowner groups after school and evenings, but we want you to feel welcome to use it for your groups.  
Yoga Chair Yoga For Seniors
There are a few spots left!
We have had requests for another Yoga Chair Yoga class.  Benefits of  yoga include balance, strength, flexibility and protection from injury. This one hour class will meet for four weeks beginning Wednesday, May 17 at 1 pm.   Click here for more information.

Mobile Drivers License Renewal Event at Fremont Township

For your convenience, Fremont Township is hosting a Mobile Drivers License Renewal on July 19 with Secretary of State Jesse White's office from 10:00 am til 2:00 pm.  In order to renew your license or State ID at this event, your license or ID must be expiring within one year of July 19, 2018. (July 18th birthdate is the latest) Seniors over 65 can get a free lifetime State ID.

Mulch and Flower Sale at Mundelein High School

Mundelein High School's Basketball and Football Teams will be hosting their annual Mulch and Flower Sale on Saturday, May 6 (from 8am - 4 pm) and Sunday, May 7 (from 10 am - 4pm) in the far west parking lot at MHS. You can also choose to have your mulch delivered on Saturday, May 13. They offer FREE LOCAL DELIVERY (within a 10 mile radius of MHS), with the purchase of 6 or more bags. The mulch is from 83 Landscape Supply in Mundelein and will cost $3.50 per bag for Natural mulch and $4.00 per bag for Dark Brown or Red mulch. Bags of all-natural compost will also sell for $4 per bag.  They will also be selling bulk mulch in the same 3 bagged colors, as well as in Brown or Black. You can use the pre-order form to place on order for your mulch, or stop by the sale on May 6th or 7th. We will accept cash or checks made out to: Mundelein High School.

The Mustangs will also be selling beautiful flowers & plants from Turks' Greenhouses at their fundraiser.  You can stop by the sale on May 6 and 7 to choose from the nice assortment flowers and plants, or use the attached flyer to shop at Turks' Greenhouses any time between May 6 - May 12 and pick out your own items.  Turks' Greenhouses is located at 22871 W. Route 60 in Grayslake.  Just be sure to bring in the flyer or mention Mundelein High School when you shop at Turks' between May 6-12.

Mundelein Farmers Market to open on June 16
The Mundelein Community Connection (MCC) is looking forward to the 2017 Mundelein Farmers Market. We have room for a few more vendors therefore we are extending the sign up deadline to May 26. The Farmers Market will be held on Fridays from 3-7 p.m., June 16 through October 6, in the Santa Maria del Popolo Church parking lot on Highway Route 45. The MCC expects to have about 30-35 vendors each week, there will featured local business and non-profit group each week. If you are interested in being a vendor please call Terry at 847-970-9235.

If you have used towels, sheets or blankets that need to be recycled, please consider bringing them to Fremont Township at 22385 Route 60, Mundelein to be donated to local Animal Shelters and Rescues.  You can drop them off in the bin on our front porch.

Did you know 85 percent of clothing ends up in the landfill? Bring your new, gently used, and used clothing to be reused or recycled.

Use our  textile bin in our parking lot.  Click here for a list of acceptable items.



Fremont Township recycles shoes year round.  You will find a bin on our front porch.  If you are disposing of shoes that have laces, please tie the laces together.  

We also accept eyeglasses.
