Sigma Nu Tau Board Votes on Some Exciting New Benefits and Changes!

Dear ,

We are very pleased to announce that Sigma Nu Tau is growing significantly and, as a result, we are increasing the benefits to our members! Here is some exciting news from our board:
  1. The Sigma Nu Tau board approved $5,000 for our first scholarship program for Sigma Nu Tau student members.  Each chapter can endorse one student who has at least one semester of studies remaining after the fall 2017 semester.  That student should submit the scholarship application by October 6, 2017, and four $1250 scholarships will be awarded by the end of the year for the spring semester.
  2. The 2nd Annual Video Pitch Competition materials have been sent out to faculty advisors.  Each school may submit one 2-3 minute video that highlights the learning process that takes place when students participate in a business plan competition.  All members of a school's team must have won a prize in a previous business plan or other entrepreneurial competition.  "Best Video Awards" of $1,000, $600, and $300 will be paid to the winning schools' foundations.
  3. Schools that offer a minor that includes 15 credits of strictly entrepreneurship courses may now petition to establish a Sigma Nu Tau chapter.  Sigma Nu Tau received many inquiries over the years from schools that offered only an entrepreneurship minor about whether they could establish a Sigma Nu Tau chapter.  As a result, after careful deliberation, a change was made to our bylaws and constitution by our board at its January 26, 2017 meeting that allows schools that offer a minor that includes a minimum of 15 credits of strictly entrepreneurship courses to petition to start a chapter. Schools with current Sigma Nu Tau chapters that offer a minor meeting this criterion should submit their minor program to Sigma Nu Tau for approval if they wish to offer Sigma Nu Tau membership to students in the minor program.
  4. Sigma Nu Tau now offers its chapters and new members the option of paying by credit card in addition to paying by check or money order.
Applications are coming in to establish chapters at several schools!  Are you interested in starting a Sigma Nu Tau chapter on your campus?

Would your university like to be the first in your state or region to establish a Sigma Nu Tau chapter on your campus?  You will gain a competitive advantage by being able to offer special programs and awards to your students!

If you would like to establish a chapter at your university so that you can recognize outstanding students, faculty members, entrepreneurs, and honorary members, please visit our website (SigmaNuTau.org) and check out our Facebook page to learn more about the process. Or give me a call to discuss it!

"Warren Buffett's 3 Top Pieces of Advice for Entrepreneurs"
by Linda Belanger

With a net worth of over $70 billion, Warren Buffett is the second-richest person in the world, behind only his good friend Bill Gates. Here are 3 pieces of advice he has for entrepreneurs:
1. Hire Women.
Buffett made the point that for much of America's history, women did not have the same opportunities for work as men, which limited the nation from achieving its full potential.

2. Delight your customers.
"If you've been treated well and honestly, if you've been delighted by the person you're doing business with, you're going to return to that person," suggested Buffett.

3. Have fun.
"I just tell them, find your passion, find the job that you would hold if you didn't need to have a job so that every day is fun," Buffett stated. "Because if you're having as much fun as I'm having at 85, and I hope you do, there's nothing like it."
