After working for two years at Austin Sports Therapy Dr. Rachel is excited to announce that she is now seeing patients on her own in Cedar Park.
Dr. Benson was born and raised in Austin, graduating from Westlake High School, where she was the head athletic trainer. She went on to graduate from Texas A&M, and continued onto chiropractic school at Southern California University of Health Sciences. While in school Dr. Rachel focused on sports medicine, working with a team doctor on the sidelines of a state-winning high school football team for most of her schooling. She was also an intramural referee and took many supplemental courses from sports taping to strength and conditioning classes to strengthen her sports knowledge.
Dr. Rachel decided to be a chiropractor after hurting her knee during one of her lacrosse seasons at Westlake. She was fortunate enough to have an orthopedic surgeon that recognized she was not a candidate for surgery, but was then told to
"ice/rest". Frustrated that her knee was taking so long to heal on its own, Dr. Rachel became passionate about finding effective, conservative treatments to heal her sports injury. That is when she found chiropractic. She now loves helping athletes stay IN the game, and getting them back to playing as quickly and safely as possible.
I love to not only treat the pain, but to find the the root of dysfunction causing the pain. Without treating the root of the problem, the
band-aid treatment" will eventually wear off and the pain will return." Dr. Rachel is full body certified in Active Release technique, Graston certified and has has taken performance taping and functional movement screening seminars
