SILICON VIKINGS STOCKHOLM NODE EVENT AT SPOTIFY
The Silicon Vikings Stockholm chapter recently hosted "The Future of Diversity" at Spotify's headquarters. Over a hundred people from Stockholm's entrepreneurial community gathered to experience speakers who in different ways excel at using diversity in their daily practice. Silicon Valley taught Sweden how to build unicorn companies. "What can Silicon Valley learn from Sweden about building diverse teams?" was a question raised.
Olga Stern, one of Sweden's top programmers presented Genews - a brand new service that challenges the way corporate media operates by providing real time data concerning the gender balance in Sweden's major news publications. Dajana Vlajic and Sofie Lindblom from the non-profit organization Womengineer explained how they are working to increase the amount of female engineering graduates in Sweden with the goal to achieve equal numbers by 2030.
Truecaller has in five years grown into one of Stockholm's leading startups. CTO Umut Alp gave insights on how their team represented by over different 40 nationalities is a great asset and a key factor to balance short comings and achieve lasting success.
Last speaker out was Sofia Falk, founder and Creative Director at We Are The Story Doers (formerly Wiminvest). She thrives on helping organizations increase the amount of women in operative management positions. Determined at hacking the system of undiversified corporate she explained how it is crucial for companies and organizations to think in a broader sense in every way to avoid missing out on business opportunities.
